before you read sorry its so long.:lol::D

i was wondering if anybody has had any experiance with a hypertech tuner. I had the older style hypertech III and it only worked the first time i used it. I couldnt get it to work again and somehow it was returned to stock and i couldnt get it to tune again. I spoke with them on the phone about ten times and they tried to walk me through it but they were stumped. I asked for my money back and they told me to send it in. I returned it twice and they kept sending it back with no progress. Finally instead of sending me my money they sent me the new max energy tune and still nothing. the last time i spoke with them they were really rude and i told them i still wanted my money and they told me sorry and that i had a 350 dollar paperweight and hung up.can anyone help me get it to work since i dont have the money for a custom tune and would like this to work, thanks.

What error codes are you getting?

I have gone back and forth from stock to performance a few times. I have also adjusted shift points and changed the programming w/ no issues.

However, sometimes I did get the error "call hypertech for assistance...blah blah blah." I tried to start my truck and nothing. I figured the programming got interrupted. I didn't call them but just made the following adjustments.

I found that you have to make sure nothing is or does "turn on" when your programming. For example, disable your alarm if it has auto door locks, turn off the radio, disable Onstar. I found the best thing to do was close the door and reach in to do the programming. When I did this it worked perfect every time.

Hope this helps.

Really sorry to hear you're having trouble. I was in the same spot with a Hypertech III unit about 3 years ago. I bought the unit on-line and it wouldn't recognize my truck, even though it was the right programmer. I had to send the unit back to them 3 times and it still didn't work. In dealing with them, I was told that I was doing something wrong or had damaged the unit somehow,... not true. These people were very rude and I was very frustrated. I eventually called the Better Business Bureau to get a resolution.

If you can't resolve this situation any other way, the BBB can be very helpful...I highly recommend them.

I want to say that, about, six months ago, or so, hypertech laid off a VERY large proportion of their staff --- this came to me from an industry insider.

I agree, do the BBB. I am more concerned that you THINK your ECM is stock. If it were me, I would probably go have it flashed with a Tech II back to its stock config.

THEN, if you are still interested in a tune, go with one that has a better rep. Hypertech, in particular, has a pretty spotty reputation from what I have been able to assertain.

Hypertech's tech support isn't open on the weekends so I'm not sure who you were speaking with about your problem. Also you can return the programmer to your place of purchase with in the first 30 days no mater what the problem is. But before you do that you give Hypertech a call and speak to one of their techs. 901 - 382 - 8888.

I have the Hypertech Max energy tuner and I am quite impressed with it.

However, once you do the tune, if the dealership did any updates to the ECM your performance tune will be gone. The tuner copies the stock tune to itself and copies the performance tune to the ECM.
