2011 1500 Crew Cab: Now Made In The US!

Starting Monday, the 2011 1500 Crew Cab will be built in Flint, Mi, alongside it's larger Heavy Duty brothers! Had I known this, I may have waited to get a new truck. The plant isn't even 10 miles from where I live.

If I had known this, I may have waited to get the new truck. My last truck was built in Pontiac, Mi.

Oh well, what do you do?

I think the "Hope" is that GM will need to hire a few more employees due to the higher work load.

This is good, but what different about the '11 1500 than the '10's. Are they doing the direct injected engines yet? I'm personally holding out for the next gen motors.

Good for GM! Now if they only keep the GM plant in Shreveport, Louisiana open.

I would Much Rather See the Spring Hill, TN Plant manager Mash Go for the Next Generation Colarado!

Unless you're buying the truck off the lot, I don't think you can specify where your truck is built. In the 70s & 80s when multiple plants built similiar models (South Gate CA, St. Louis & Baltimore were still building trucks) orders were allocated to the nearest plant to reduce shipping costs.

If the Shreveport plant goes out of business, half the city would be out of work, and it would be pretty dumb to close a plant down that was completely rebuilt less than 10 years ago, and has top of the line equipment to boot.

We were told May of '08 that our plant was to close. Not sure how long after we were retooled for the GMT900, but probably less than 2 years.

Oh well, pretty hard to compete w/ the wages that are paid in the Mexican plants.
