Mickey Thompson Atz Tread Life

People are always concerned about tread life when purchasing tires... I just did my 2nd oil change/tire rotation since putting my ATZs on; which means these tires have 10,000 on the clock.

I'm very impressed with their wear so far and thought it'd be a good idea to throw up some pictures

and measurements. I'll update the thread with each 5,000 mile interval

Starting tread depth = 20/32 (.625")

10,000 mile tread depth = 18/32

So it looks like my first 10,000 miles wore about 1/16 off. Note that it's hard to decipher the exact tread measurement in that picture because the camera is not parallel with the line of measurement.

Man those are some badazz looking tires. They remind me of the tread on one of the Catepillar earth movers.

Yeah they're awesome looking tires... i wanted them for years and finally got them for this truck. They're a good 60+ lbs per tire though for these 33s  .

15,000 MILE UPDATE

Starting tread depth = 20/32 (.625")

10,000 mile tread depth = 18/32

15,000 mile tread depth = 17/32

Barely any wear in the past 5k miles! Looks to be just under 9/16 but well over 8/16. So I took the average of 8.5/16 which is 17/32 tread depth.

Overall tread loss in 15,000 miles is 3/32!!! Hopefully this trend continues.. at 30k miles i should have a good 13-14/32 Left (For reference... MOST A/T tires come with 14/32 or 16/32 tread depth brand new)

Hey now! It will happen, just give it some time.

At this rate you will get 100,000 Miles!! Highly doubtful though. But it looks like I found my next set of tires.

:ughdance: dont forget that you replace tires long before they get to 0" tread depth. I usually dont go below 5 or 6/32. Plus as tires age their wear tends to accelerate.

Im thinking an easy 30 with this set... probably 40... and a slight possibility for 50. (if i keep them that long!... ill have to sell them to someone on this forum so we can continue keeping track...)
