  1. I got to tell you guys, I picked up a new 2022 Tahoe recently with a 5.3/10speed in it with 15 miles on the odometer. I’ve been comparing the performance between that and my 2022 refresh 2.7 Trailboss and have come to the conclusion I like the 2.7ho Trailboss better. They are both pretty close in performance but overall the trailboss seems more solid and responsive. As far as the 10 speed goes I can take it or leave it I guess, it’s nothing special. Fuel mileage is worse with the e 5.3 too only by 2-3 mpg’s but it’s also not lifted with big tires like the trailboss. I suspect it would be closer to 5-7mpgs if it were a normal z71 truck. It’s an impressive little engine. Just have to see how long they last.

  2. I’ve asked a few police officers what is the real grace is in speed limits. The speed limit is the answer. Most allowed 10 percent they admit. The older officers admit the flow of traffic at even higher speeds. They don’t like to cause rubber necking if they can avoid it. According to police officers I’ve talked to left hand lane hanging contributes to road rage. Not giving way is another. I mean really why inflame a person driving 5,000 to 50,000 lb bullet? I live in a unique area. I live off a winding country road. Parallel is a subdivision 4 lane main road with shoulders. There’re a block apart. Bike riding for city slickers hit these roads most weekends. Guess what road they pick. When asked why they pick the most dangerous road. It’s my right is the answer. Near misses are numerous every weekend. Reminds of attitudes with some drivers here. Right may be right. Dead is still dead. I’m a defensive aggressive driver. If you want the road it’s yours I’ll giveaway. One of the most astonishing practices I’ve witnessed out of most towns in Texas. If there’s a shoulder people here will pull over. If it’s a tractor trailer I match the speed until I can give way. Every one remains happy. It’ll probably make the other drivers day.

  3. I decided to swap out the Morimoto tail lights with a set of Alpharex tail lights. They require reusing the old backup bulbs, whereas the Moromotos had their own LEDs. Really, I just wanted a change but the old bulbs were too dim so I went with some Diode Dynamics LED reverse lights. The difference is obvious.

  5. Wondered if you'd catch that.....LOL Polaris labs Horizon is better than nothing and better than Bklabs. Doesn't come close to Nicks Service. BTW Nick and I served at the same time in NC he in USAF me at Fort Bragg with Army. We have known each other now over 20 years? You are correct that chemistry is more advanced than I thought and recently confirmed. The L3B loves it.

  6. NO OIL SAMPLE DRAWN because of peer pressure from diyer2.......LOL I'll admit I was thinking of doing a UOA on the Amsoil OE in the Santa Fe when I change it at 4 K. I believe I have a test kit for the basic test done by Horizon. I know this kit isn't as detailed as others. You stepping up to Amsoil SS is a big jump in quality. I have mentioned before Mobil 1 never impressed me, even though I never used it. The over the top marketing of Mobil 1 back in the day just turned me off due to some things are to good to be true and the cost.

  7. Page 1 has the photos, they are brighter than the low beam headlights...by quite a bit. And yes I would do this on every truck, if someone wrecks my bumper I will pull the lights and put em in the next bumper. One of those mods that once you have...you figure out how to get again...for outdoorsy people doing stuff in the dark behind their truck...great mod!

  8. It's my understanding with the trucks, they did only use the Allison. I think they stuffed some in vans with the 4l80e.

  9. I don't hear him at all...... (Remainder is not for you customboss) Speed limit is 55 here. If I drive 60 mph; most cops here will let that pass, this guy passing me sees me as a challenge and smiles. If I'm driving 50 he sees me as an annoyance and frowns. Nothing changes but his feelings about the pass. What does that have to do with me? Nothing! Gravel trucks around here run over the speed limit, over weight and uncovered spilling rock the size of baseballs all over the road. He gets paid by tonnage a day. His sign says "Not responsible for damage to those following close enough to read this sign". Really? It's my fault your overweight, over speed and illegally uncovered? Get a grip. This jerk just thinks he is the most important thing on the road. Spoiler alert...your are not. County trash semi's ditto. Playing stop sign dodgeball with these jerks is getting stupid and running 20 over in school zones and down main streets of small town USA. Running down I-39 the other day I have a semi flashing his lights and laying into the horn because I'm actually doing 45 in a construction zone marked 45 and photo enforced with a $375 ticket attached. Enough already.... You drive yours and I'll drive mine. Grow up and get over it. A thousand yards at 45 isn't loosing you anything you didn't know was already there and SHOULD HAVE PLANNED FOR. You guys aren't all that..... First sign on I-39 says SPEED LIMIT 70 MPH. 50 yards later a second sign says SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT. Next sign says MINIMUM SPEED 45 MPH. What that means is you have NO expectation of ANYONE in the right lane doing the MAXIMUM speed allowed on the road. D'oh, its for those UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT. IF that's to deep for ya all...walk and leave the driving to grownups.

  12. Ok, glad to hear it’s not the 2.7 lol. I’ll have to send my oil in to be tested next oil change.

  13. Yea unfortunately for GM and oil consumption it must be documented by the dealer for warranty. The closer dealer was rude in telling you that they couldn't be of help IMO. Going the "legal" route won't get you anywhere. You are just side stepping the work that has to be done anyway, you have to have documented proof of the consumption from the dealer. The one or two 2.7s I've heard of with oil consumption were found to have turbo leaks, so your servicing dealer should have changed the oil when you went there, added dye and then started a consumption test.

  14. Looks great excellent mod, I just have to decide which beam pattern, flood seems like it might be pretty good for overall visibility at the rear area of the truck, may I ask how you decided on the diffused pattern? TIA

  15. Yes, I believe only about 15% or so are Gideon interior. RST with that interior and 6.2 is pretty rare combo. It looks nice.. light grey, chocolate.. light brown mix... Last 3 silverado's I had were the the jet black.. just tired of it.

  17. What is the height of your garage door’s lowest point when raised? What is the height of your truck’s highest immovable point, sitting on your driveway? Does the driveway meet the garage floor at an angle, and which way? Basically, impossible for the internet to tell you.

  18. I just installed a Gen V Linkswell. I like it, I have a wireless dongle for CarPlay and use it to connect my phone. Also, I can watch YouTube videos or NetFlix, but I never do that when driving. That's why I use CarPlay when driving.

  19. Not to sound stupid but can't you just take a measurement of the truck right now and just add 4 or 6in to that? That would tell you exactly how much higher the truck is going to sit. And you can always just deflate all the tires and roll it the 15 feet out the garage door, that will give you a few inches with flat tires.

  20. Gruven sells the brass gears and internally grounded motors so you can get the mirror up and running again. They also have a photographic tutorial and one on youtube. If my teenage daughter can fix the mirror, you can too! Have never seen it being a wiring issue, it's always been cracked gears. A bi-directional scan tool can check the internal codes that are surely there and run diagnostics if you are want to do that before digging in. https://www.gruvenparts.com/shop-by-car/gm-truck

  26. Recently picked up my new ‘22 AT4 and swapped out the Duratrac’s for 295/70R18 Ridge Grapplers. Kept the stock setup and surprisingly have no rubbing even at full lock.

  27. Check your drivers side front door jamb. There should be a QR code, scan it with your phone, it will pull up most of the RPO's that your truck came with. Should be Class IV from the factory. Look for RPO Z82 and Z85.

  28. I recently bought a bunch of stuff from Rock. I guess I'd forgotten about the shipping issues I had in the past. One part left AZ and went to NY, then back to me in CA. It was damaged and had to be returned. The replacement part was missing special hardware.
