Custom Trail Boss Console Upgrade?
HondaHawkGT replied to Texas_Trail_Boss's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
At some point you will be able to order the jump seat with the center storage bin. Just like the guys with K2 trucks are buying the factory center console and replacing their original jump seat. It takes a while for all the oem parts to become available for purchase.- 401 replies

2019 5.3l 8 speed jolt when accelerating
HondaHawkGT replied to Bmwtech113's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
The light throttle shutter at highway speeds could be caused by DFM as it switches between firing patterns. It's hard to tell since we are only going off of written descriptions of what you're experiencing. Has somebody from the service center ridden along to see what you're experiencing, or perhaps allowed you to drive a new truck to see if other trucks do the same thing? -
Xpel Protection / 19 Trailboss
HondaHawkGT replied to Off_Trail's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
It seems to be very common among all manufacturers these days. My co-worker's 2016 F-150 had dozens of little paint chips after just a few months. Same with another guy's 2017 Tacoma OR. He said there are hundreds of complaints over how easily the new Tacoma's paint chips up. I'm guessing the clear coat and paint are harder than they used to be. So hard that they tend to act brittle when a little rock hits it at high speed. These films add a soft boundary layer to protect it. At least that's the theory I got from the detailing guys. -
Yep I misinterpreted the restrictions earlier. I thought it was a more widespread restrictions against trims with the L84 5.3. It still sucks that they won't allow it on an LT trim but I get why. They want you to pay for a slightly more expensive trims than an LT.
-
Oh they're overrated by far these days. Any of their more recent engines have had major problems. Their Tacoma axles are cheaply made import junk these days. Anybody that follows the 2016+ Tacoma knows what a disaster that truck has been. TTheya brand relying on their reputation from 20 to 30 years ago to sell vehicles today. Same with Honda.

Swapping Center Seat to Console
HondaHawkGT replied to lexustbs's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Guys with a Custom Trail Boss will definitely be interested in buying the jump seats. -
And as others replied to you, their trucks were reading 100% when they picked it up from the dealer.

It has to be a software issue. I wonder if the new ZF electronic brake system sends brake life data to the BCM.

Swapping Center Seat to Console
HondaHawkGT replied to lexustbs's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Are you having them install it or doing it yourself? If you do do it your self you should takes some pictures of the process to help out other guys that want to do the center console swap. -
The 10-speed is prone to have the exact same issues. The F-150 and Mustang guys have had a horrible time with the transmission. Like the 8L90, when the 10R80 works right, they're a great transmission. When there's an issue, they're a horrible transmission. Both have hard shifts, shudder issues, or straight up transmission failures.

It took quite a while for the Helm manuals to become available when the K2 trucks first went into production.

2019 5.3l 8 speed jolt when accelerating
HondaHawkGT replied to Bmwtech113's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
If it were my truck, I would try it. Notice that the 2019 Colorado and Canyon are covered under it. It's possible they used the old formulation of Dexron HP in your transmission. Don't give up on it. -
2019 5.3l 8 speed jolt when accelerating
HondaHawkGT replied to Bmwtech113's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Is it a shudder while accelerating in a gear or just when a shift occurs? If it's a shudder, then there's a new fix for it. It's incredibly annoying that some dealers will play stupid, making comments like "that's just how it is". TSB #18-NA-355 Print this article out and hand it to them: https://gm-techlink.com/?p=11127 Here's a simple explanation of why the new fluid is the real deal: "The base stock of old fluid (19355656) has the ability to attract low levels of moisture, which can cause degradation of the coefficient of friction of the fluid. The new fluid (19417577) has a new GTL (Gas to Liquid) base stock that is able to tolerate more moisture. Shuddering transmissions and torque converters have been recovered with the new fluid. New transmission fluid tests have been developed due this issue to prevent it from occurring with new transmission fluids." -
GM Stepping Up on Brake Issue
HondaHawkGT replied to 2017Darkness's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
That's the auto industry for you. They all do it. https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2018/ford-f-150-brake-pedal-goes-to-floor.shtml -
They gimped the CTB's interior. The DIC looks like its 10 years old, the center fold down seat is only an arm rest (no storage bin in it), and there are more hard plastics. The steering wheel isn't leather wrapped like the higher trims. The best option would have been an LT or RST with the Trail Boss suspension kit but GM couldn't have guys finding cheaper ways to get a TB suspension setup, so they won't allow the kit to be installed on an LT o̶r̶ ̶R̶S̶T̶ if it has the L84 5.3 in it. It's all really really annoying.

Custom Trail Boss Console Upgrade?
HondaHawkGT replied to Texas_Trail_Boss's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Yeah I was about to run down and kick the tires on a cajun red Trail Boss Custom. Not sure if I want to deal with the pain of trying to swap out the armrest for one with a storage console. I'm hoping someone figures out what's required to do a swap. Really stupid on GM's part.- 401 replies

So you haven't been in for the new TSB? https://gm-techlink.com/?p=11127 TCC Shudder and New Mobil 1 Fluid Exchange January 31, 2019 "A new transmission fluid exchange procedure and a new formula of Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP transmission fluid have been released to address torque converter clutch (TCC) shudder conditions on 8L45 and 8L90 8-speed automatic transmissions (RPOs M5N, M5T, M5U, M5X) in some 2015-2017 Escalade, Yukon; 2015-2018 Silverado, Sierra; 2015-2019 Corvette; 2016-2018 CT6; 2016-2019 ATS, CTS, Camaro; and 2017-2019 Colorado and Canyon models." "The TCC shudder condition is related to moisture content in the transmission fluid. The current fluid tends to be hydroscopic, or absorbs moisture, which increases the chance of TCC shudder. There are three different fluid exchange procedures to follow, depending on vehicle application, so that an acceptable concentration of the new HP fluid is achieved in the transmission." "The new Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP transmission fluid is now available to U.S. dealerships through your local GM Oil Distributor. The new Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP transmission fluid is available in quart bottles (GM Part Number 19417577) and, for a limited time, in 55-gallon drums (GM Part Number 19417904) (Fig. 12) in most locations. Drum production ended in January 2019. The GM part numbers are not on the product. The Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP fluid and the required tool kit will be available to all Canadian dealerships by the end of March 2019. GM Part Numbers for 0.946 liter bottles will be provided at that time."

Custom Trail Boss Console Upgrade?
HondaHawkGT replied to Texas_Trail_Boss's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
The best option would be to wait for the OEM parts to become available to order. Then just remove the center seat and replace it with the seat w/ center storage or even the center console (popular on the K2 trucks now). The lack of center storage really killed the CTB for me. Another example of GM removing previously standard features to force customers into a much more expensive truck. What's next? Replacing the rear disk brakes with drum brakes?- 401 replies

Exxon Mobil just changed the formulation for Dexron HP a few months ago. GM released a new TSB 18-NA--355 that instructs them to flush and fill with it. How do we know that the new Dexron HP didn't fix the 8-speed?
