  1. I placed an order for a 2024 Sierra SLT with the 3.0L, max trailering package, and premium plus package on April 18, 2024. It was picked up during the current allocation cycle back then, so first time around. On May 17, 2024 my salesperson notified me I was in status 3000 with a build date of June 17, 2024. So it should ship out toward the end of June and hopefully won't be in transit too long.
  2. I'm in the process of ordering a 2024 Sierra SLT with the 3.0L Duramax. The dealer is trying to order it with NE emissions even they are located in a federal emissions state and so am I. What is the difference is emissions between the three different types. Personally, I want FE9 federal emissions.
  3. My new neighbor's 1987 square body. Around 125,000 miles on it. And, he's the original owner. Bought brand new in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1987.
  4. As others have said, dealer add-on scam. I find it annoying to be behind a vehicle that has it. Fortunately, no Alaska dealers do this, but I saw an SUV with it the other day. Must have come up from the Lower 48 or someone installed it themselves.
  5. No problems with mine, and it's been sitting outside and has a tonneau cover. Temperature this morning was 0° Fahrenheit.
  6. We have to worry about moose. 5x heavier. They will come through your windshield and crush you.
  7. I bought my Silverado over two years ago and I'm still getting e-mails from GM trying to get me to buy the GM extended warranty.
  8. At the end of the day, it's still a Toyota. No thanks. One glaring omission is the lack of Auto 4WD. 23 years after GM introduced it on their half tons Toyota still doesn't have it. I've been using Auto 4WD drive on three different GM half tons for 21 years and I wouldn't be without it. It's one of the most useful features ever devised for winter driving. Ford and Dodge/Ram eventually put it in their half ton trucks, but Toyota and Nissan remain firmly planted in the 20th century when it comes to 4WD systems.
  9. I never once had a problem with the radar adaptive cruise control in my car. Although it rarely gets used, the two camera Subaru Eyesight system in my wife's Outback has always worked flawlessly. I always thought it was a bad idea to have an ACC system based on one camera. GM dropped the ball on this.
  10. I have two Silverados for that. My Jeep for serious off-roading. But the trails I go on have all kinds of vegetation that will scratch the side of a vehicle, even something as narrow as a Jeep Wrangler. My Jeep is totally pin-striped as a result. Not something I'm willing to put my trucks through.
  11. I bought my 2015 back in 2015 when they were a lot less expensive. I bought it strictly for off-roading, so I pin-striped it the first weekend I owned it. I can't imagine pin-striping my Silverado, so there's no way I'm ever taking it on back-country trails, not that I want to take a behemoth like that on tight trails.
  12. Exactly. When I go wheeling, it's in my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. No way would I take a $50k or $60k truck off-roading. It's too long, too wide and not that well suited for the trail. My truck is used for towing.
  13. I make sure the house I'm going to buy has a deep enough garage to hold my truck. Living in a gated community also helps. But looking at the police blotter, it's primarily older vehicles with no theft deterrent technology that get stolen. Or people leave the key in the ignition when warming up in the morning or stopping by a convenience store. I don't see newer trucks getting stolen because most thieves can't defeat the technology. You pretty much need a tow truck or trailer to steal the newer trucks.
  14. It's my understanding there is no way to add it. I don't have it on my LTZ either, and quite frankly, I don't miss it at all. If I need navigation, I just use Apple CarPlay and pull up Maps. It's way better than GM navigation.
  15. I can easily afford to have OnStar, even without any discounts. But OnStar provides no value, so I don't waste my time or money paying for it.
  16. BLIS is a Ford system. You'll get a better response on a Ford forum.
  17. My 2019 is centered, but my 2016 is noticeably offset.
  18. Blind spot utilizes radar units in the rear bumper. Your truck will not have that. Additionally, the computer systems will not be configured for the blind spot warning system. So there is no plug and play solution in this case. Blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert were important enough for me to the point where any truck that didn't have was immediately out of the running. In this day and age one needs to make sure the vehicle they are buying has everything needed/wanted, because adding it after the fact is pretty much impossible for anything that requires electricity and computers. The rare exception is something like the brake controller, although it won't be a factory unit and it won't be integrated with the advanced trailering system.
  19. The chime doesn't start nagging for about a quarter mile. It never nags me when hooking up a trailer. And no, I don't buckle up to hook up a trailer.
  20. Total waste of money. I refused to even sign up for the free 90 days.
  21. I have a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon for those times I want to venture off road. My Silverado is way too big for off roading. Not to mention, I have no interest in getting it all pin striped. My Silverado's primary mission is to tow my travel trailer.
  22. I would not get a diesel if you only have an eight mile commute. That engine will never see normal operating temps, which is murder on a diesel.
  23. I'm at sea level and all premium at every station is 90 octane. No such thing as 91 octane or higher anywhere in the state. Regular is 87 and midgrade is 88.5.
  24. 6 speed with 3.42 axle. My 6.2 also has a 3.42 axle.
