  3. Got my SLT ceramic coated. The product is called QP-ON. Turned out pretty good! Debating getting 3m wrap on the front end. So expensive!
  4. New to the forum and thought I would inquire if anyone has some advice in regards to a starting problem I am having. Thank you for reading this. For starters, the SUV is a 2009 GMC Yukon XL SLT 5.3L SFI Flex Fuel (120K miles and oil change light is on, changed oil but have not reset light indicator as I have been playing with starting issue). For the last few weeks it has had a strange intermittent starting issue. When you turn the key to the acc position the battery reads correctly and matches my meter with all electronics working. However, when I would turn the key to the next position (ignition). It would just click. So I would turn it off and then retry with no luck starting. When held in full ignition position it would click and click and then start. as long as you held it in place for a good 5-10 seconds. I checked the battery again and ran tests on it. Brand new battery and no issues. I checked battery cables and grounds with no red flags. I removed the starter relay and jumped 30/87 and confirmed the starter itself has no issue. The starter kicks on and sounds good. Yesterday, I went to start it with a fully charged battery and it would only click. Doors would try and lock and unlock during the process but it would not start. I got out of the vehicle and locked the doors. use the FOB to remote start and the vehicle started with no issues. I got into the SUV and tried the key, and it started right up. Started it a number of times with the parking brake on, parking brake off with no luck in recreating the problems. However, I feel that it's only getting worse with no real answers and no way to recreate the problems or how to solve. Which is why I am here. I have googled quite a bit and read a number of posts here, but no real solution. So I am hoping someone can point me in the correct direction. I love troubleshooting but this is bit annoying. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  5. I bought my 2015 4 x 4 Canyon SLT from a Toyota dealership used so I got very little info. Do I have the z82 suspension package since I have the SLT 4x4 because that's what I've been told. does that mean I can tow the 7k lb? can I update the maps or OS in the GMC intellilink system? Keeps giving me traffic warnings for situations years ago and doesn't indicate roads that have been built since 2014. Does anyone have any tips or things look out for possibly any proactive maintenance tips? Have seemed to notice a intermittent slight rough idling issue when stopped at a red light sometimes.
  6. 2001 gmc sierra slt -aftermarket kenwood stereo I've had this pickup for about a couple months now, Ice had a problem start where my speedometer was off By 5 mph. It wasn't a big deal to me. I ignored it. After about a few days of it being off by 5mph, it had risen up to be 10 mph off, and the next day after that if was 20 mph off and still is to this day. Some days it will be off by 10 or even by 5. The aftermarket stereo has no fm/am radio signal,so I took the radio out and unplugged it to see if I needed an radio atenna adapter and I noticed while the stereo was disconnected from the harness the speedometer wasn't off and dropped back to 0 while parked. I went for a drive and the speedometer was fine. When I plug that stereo in it jumps back up to 20 again. All the wiring from the factory radio harness to the aftermarket stereo looks okay the colors match. I'm puzzled on why it does this. Also the speedometer kinda wiggles a bit when turning power on to the pickup like as if a surge is happening. Any help or advice of what to do would be great!

  9. I’m sure this is already here somewhere but I didn’t see anything recent on this specific question. Does anyone have any recommendations on swapping out the headlights on a 2015 Sierra 1500 SLT? I feel like a flashlight would give me better light down road than the junk stock lights. From what I’ve read the stock projectors suck. What did y’all end up doing to make your lights actually useful at night? Complete new housing, HID conversions, LED conversion? Thanks in advance! -Zach
  10. Hey guys, like the title says, is the 16/17 GMC Sierra 1500 grilles easy like the silverado ones now or are they still harder and you need to take off bumper pad etc.. I wanna color match my shell and am wondering how hard it is before I get too involved. I searched the forum and lots of info on 2014 and 2015 but couldn't find any for 16/17. Thanks for any help guys.
  11. Curious what the average and best gas mileage you've gotten in your 2015-2018 silverado or sierrra 1500 crew cab is? Mine so far is pictured. It is a 2018 Sierra SLT Z71 4WD Crew with the the 5.2 liter V8 8-speed.
  12. Hi everyone, so recently I installed a sub/amp setup in my 2018 Sierra SLT Crew Cab. My truck has the 6 speaker BOSE without sub (no console/no sub). We tapped into the rear speaker wire for a signal to an Audiocontrol LC2i. I am noticing that certain frequencies are causing the bass to drop out. It seems like when there is a heavy bass line or kick, while also a singing voice/higher frequency sound, they are competing and ultimately the bass will drop out. Most instrumental music sounds great in the truck, the bass loss is only occurring when there other certain frequencies playing simultaneously. The bass will drop out/go really low, then the next hit will be normal (loud) when the frequencies are no longer competing. I am wondering if this is normal with the LC2i or if something else is causing this issue. Sorry if this explanation sucks...in a nutshell, any bass enthusiast will be able to notice this as soon as they got in my truck. The bass is not consistent and it is super annoying when it drops in and out. (For Ex. the same kick drum will hit at different levels throughout the same song depending on which other sounds are occurring at the same time) Thanks for any replies in advance, I appreciate it. - KJ

  14. I have a 2014 Gmc Sierra SLT and I am trying to figure out the dimensions of the stock OEM headlight projector lens? Just the actual lens itself? Does anyone have 1 lying around or if they know of anyone that does that would be awesome. I think it's a 3 inch but I really need to know the focal length which is from the flat part to the top of the round part. All help is appreciated!
  15. I've been wandering these forums for a little bit now - I was initially looking hard at a 16+ chevy. Then realized it wasn't practical for me to buy another newer truck. So I then started looking at 07-13 trucks.... Then realized I don't want to deal with the 5.3 AFM issues.... So now I'm very interested in even older ones, from 03-06. I have been looking for about a month and have now found a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT that is 2 hours away. Heres the info: - 2006 GMC Sierra SLT 1500 4x4 5.3 - 127k miles - crew cab - leather - heated & memory seats - electronic everything - sunroof - matching cap - tinted windows - Grey color (MY FAVORITE) - 2.5" lift - GMT900 wheels - few other add ons, only a few repairs to the front end... mostly untouched - new rear brake lines The bad: - rusted out driver side rocker, but the passenger side is almost flawless (so he says - the pictures look like its good) - dent/scrape on the passenger side from the rear door to the beginning of the bed. I got an estimate to fix all of the body issues from someone who I personally know who does professional body work - ~$2,200 to repair. I will post pictures later when I'm able.... But for now I wanted to get a feel for what everyone who is experienced with these trucks thinks about it. I have him down to $8.000 cash. Do you think that is a good deal? It seems that these crew cabs are GOLD and hold their value like an old jeep. I love the truck so far. I don't mind the rust because it is all contained on the bottom rocker - which can all be replaced as one when I see fit. Does this sound like a good deal? Obviously I'll probably have to have work done on the front end in the near future. I am planning to go look at it 10/7/17.... exactly 1 week away. Thanks for your input.
  16. Hey Everyone, I am about to pull the trigger on a 2017 or 2018 Sierra 1500 SLT. My main issue right now is do I buy one on the lot with the standard V8 (5.3) or do I order one with the 6.2 L? I tow a 5000 lb travel trailer often and a smaller 10 foot utility trailer. I am coming from a Diesel Volkswagen Touareg with over 400 lb feet of torque. This will be my daily driver. I am not concerned about the money to upgrade the engine but more so whether It is worth it. I really like the power ratings of the 6.2 l but is it that much more noticeable than the 5.3? I don't want this truck to feel "slow" since I am coming from a torquey vehicle. Thank you
