Headlight Help!

How exactly do the headlight assemblies come out on the 09 sierras? I've took a few bolts out on top of the light but it is still tight, so are there other bolts somewhere else on it?

There's one on the side you can see between the bumper and fender and there's another in the front you can see between the bumper and the headlight/grill. I tried to pull mine the other day without success. I think you need to remove the grill first. I was just trying to gain access to the area behind the light assembly to tie up wires for my HID fogs, but did it a different way since removing the light was looking like a pain.

I did get all the bolts out and the assembly was loose in there, but the grill seemed to be trapping it.

Pretty sure you have to pull the grille and upper bumper plastics off to get them off. It's a "frontendectomy" by the time you have one out.

That pic of your grille assembly, reminds of the grin on your clown avatar. :P

Someone in GM engineering hasn't a clue..........

Luckily you can have the grille and bumper plastic off as an assembly in about 5 minutes tops.

well i picked up an HID kit from spencersHID and i got the combo kit. I don't have a clue where to start on this thing, i thought it was going to be a plug n play type, not the you have to rewire everything type. Any suggestions?

Spencer's kit is a plug-and-play setup.... or at least a fairly plug-and-play one. The fogs are EASY to do, I just got done with mine a bit ago -- take the adapter harness he sends and plug the leads into the factory bulb harness, tape them up and you're good to go. You may find it easier to do the work if you pull the chin spoiler/wind deflector off the bottom of the bumper temporarily, but past that you'll have plenty of room. With your GMC, just tape or velcro the ballasts to the inside of the bumper cover.

As far as the low beams you can do it either the plug-and-play way or install a relay kit that draws power from the battery directly to minimize the draw/heat to the factory harness. That I'll be installing tomorrow, I guess I'll have to take some pics along the way and do a mini how-to.

Awesome! I was supposed to put mine in today but the rest of the parts didn't come in like they were supposed to.... :):fume:

I guess now it gets to wait for the weekend, if I'm lucky.
