What would you select?

Both will have the following options (A95 bucket seats, Int. + Pkg, Ext + Pkg, Rear sliding window, protection pkg)

The difference would be the Z71 pkg and Z71 appearance pkg on option 2.

The reasons I like option 2. I like the appearance pkg (painted front end, Z71 cluster, and the 18" wheels, style of them)

The reasons why I dont like option 1, P46 wheels. Does anyone have a photo of these on their truck to sway my decision? From what I seen i just dont like them (I could always buy some 18" Z71 wheels I guess)

It's a helluva lot easier to modify the wheels/appearance to your liking than it is to swap the 5.3 out for a 6.2

Go with the 6.2!!!

No question here at all!! 6.2 FTW

It will be easy to find a used set of 18in Z71 wheels or a better looking after market wheel.

If I was buying new right now, the 5.3 would be like a 6 cyclinder to me. I wouldn't even consider it.

Easy.....Get the 6.2 and swap the wheels as everyone else has said :)

You could even swap front bumpers for the painted one if you like it that much,as everyone else has said....Its easier to swap wheels and a bumper than it is an engine!!!

especially if you get an engine that is NOT equipped with the proper emissions.

One other decision will be the price difference, I doubt it will be significant but if its $2-3K it will be hard to go with it.

Does anyone know when GM will release the top secret silverado pricing on the 10's?

I'm assuming the NHT w/ 6.2 is more $$? If so, then you have to decide what you want/need and balance the cost. The 5.3L is a great engine, so there's nothing wrong with going that route, but for heavier towing or other power-hungry wants/needs, the NHT is a nice pkg.

holy! I would have thought you would have made a decision since you have been planning this order for months LOL

Yea but gm throws a curveball and I cant get a Z71 with the 6.2 :)

The 5.3L is a great engine,

I know I have 2 currently, 00 and 08

Ryan, what is it about the Z71 package that makes you feel it's a deal breaker? Considering there aren't many, if any significant differences between the Z71 and the regular 4x4 I doubt it would be a huge difference from your perspective. Unless you are regularly using the truck for heavy hauling or extreme off-road use (both conditions that would warrant an aftermarket suspension anyway) you should be fine without it.

So the way I see it is, you need to decide which is really more important to you, having the larger engine, or having a factory Z71 suspension. As others have said, you can swap wheels, bumpers/grille, and suspension quite easily when compared to doing an engine swap. You want the 6.2L? Then get it, regardless what else is pre-equipped on the truck from the factory. The rest can be taken care of in the aftermarket.
