Remote Start Not Working

My remote start feature will work about 25% of the time. The other times it makes a noise like it about to start, yet does not. This is real quality here. The truck is a 2007 and has about 50,000 miles. Not sure if this is part of the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty or not, doubtful!. So far to bring you up to speed, it has broken a valve spring, had a wheel bearing go out, constantly has service engine lights that wont stay off, rattling from all doors, rattling from what sounds to be the tach, a recall on the heated washer system, a clunking that cant be explained from the front end, several incidents of battery being dead, sounds like speakers shorting out, and still counting... This pisses me off, as I am a die hard ChevyMan, but this is getting ridiculous.

I have said it on here several times and will say it again: Adding more gimmicks to new trucks does not guarantee quality, but unfortunately that's what new buyers fall for. They go for the vehicle with the largest number of electrical accessories and all kinds of options. The more extra stuff you get, the lower the overall reliability of the vehicle will be.

And let's face it folks: in order to save money, GM is using more and more lower quality parts in their vehicles. It is a shame really, as GM trucks in the late 90's were great vehicles that would often go over 250k miles without any major issues. They have cheapened the new trucks and substituted gimmicks for quality. Sad but true. The problem with this is however, that you cannot afford to build crappy vehicles with sticker prices approaching $40k, or it will not be long before you lose sales. The competition does not sleep either. Hopefully GM is aware of this and will take their recent bankruptcy to heart and get their act together.

I have an 07 Sierra, not ONE warranty claim thus far (washer fluid recall not withstanding).

No rattles, none of the ailments you describe...... best truck I've ever owned, and, yes, I have had more than this one (this is my 6th if my count is correct).

Maybe I'm just lucky??

Did you ever think to complain to the dealer you bought it from? And check out the Lemon law for your state. We arent magicians here.

This is your answer to his post?? It is a remote start issue, and you lump it in to "all those gimmicks"?

GM remote start will not start an engine with an SES light, but I guess that pesky light is a gimmick too.

Remote starts are quite simple gimmicks, and of the many I have had, work quite reliably.

All you do is sit and wait for guys to post an issue with a 900, so you can spew your bullshit.

OP, you should get your truck in so you can get it scanned for the SES. This is likely preventing your remote starting.

I had an unexplained clunking/creaking from the front end early on. I believe it was traced back to a front coil moving around a bit. Maybe something to check.

Door and b- pillar rattling, dead battery issues are common. I know there are TSB's on the issues and I have had the same issues addressed.

I agree with that vaguely familiar Alaska dude above me. The remote start has probably stopped working because of other issues.

I am still impressed with the quality of the GMT-900's. I had more issues than what was mentioned above in the first month I owned my ancient Ford Ranger in the 90's

Have had very minor issues with either of my 900s.
