Cracked Battery

Found a lot of corrosion on positive battery terminal. After cleaning with baking soda, it would continue to fizz away. I removed the cable to find two cracks in the case leading to the terminal. A quick call to the dealer, and I have an appointment on Friday for new battery (warranty). Anyone else ever see this before?

I don't know about the cracked case, but if the battery is a side terminal I've certainly heard of more than one corroding inside the positive terminal.

That happened to mine the second or third year I owned it. In my case, the positive terminal was about 95% broken off - I had enough power to unlock the door, but not to start it. I managed to jump start it and get it home. When I went to remove the positive cable, it came off with a chunk of the case.

Happened on my wife's '02 Jeep Liberty Limited.

This is exactly what happened to my mom's 2002 Envoy a few days ago. Battery was the original so I guess 7 years isn't too bad.
