How Much Oil For F & R Differential

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a 2500hd 4wd and I was going to order some Swepco 212 gear lube for the F &R differential. I looked at the manual and it does not say how much only to the fill level and to use a 75w-90 synth lubricant. Any approx ideas?

Also What other type lubricants are reccommended? or best to sticlk w/ GM brand?

Thanks

Steve

You need to know what rear end you have, including ring gear size.

Looking at all the options based on the information you've provided, looks like you would need at least 5 qts total for both ends. 2 front, 3 rear.

One place you can look for capacities is at the Amsoil site. Look for Product Lookup Guide.

Thanks, all I know is it has 4:10 gears. Looking for an approximate amount to purchase from the rep, so I will not come up shy when servicing.

It comes in gallon containers , so I would guess 2 would be fine.

Thanks for the help

Steve
