Installed My Bilstein Hd Shocks And Struts

I was not happy with the way my truck handled bumps or the way it's ride was on the highway so I decided to install Bilstein HD shocks and struts. My impressions from this forum was that people were generally very happy using the Bilsteins as an upgrade to stock components. I may not be popular here for saying this but, in my case, I would have to say don't waste your money. I see no difference from the factory shocks and struts. At slow speed, I still feel every little bump in the road, sometimes to the point of it being really annoying. At highway speeds, the truck still feels like it "floats" a little.

Bummer! I'm very sorry to hear that. I like my 5100s. I've read that the HDs were only a little softer than the 5100s. Maybe if you call Bilstein, they'd let you trade yours for those. I called them to ask a question a rep got back to me pretty quick. 858 386-5900

I have heard not to waste your money on the HD's, just get the 5100's. Just like everything, you have a bottom end and a top end in a company i guess.

I wonder if the OP has 20" rims and 55 or less profile tires.  I am replacing my shocks with 5100's for better offroad damping, but I know (well, I think) that my big rim/low profile tires are the main cause (that and my tow package heavy sprung rear end)  of "feeling every bump" on road...

its a truck not a cadillac, i dumped my factory shocks and got bilstein hds and yes you feel every bump in the road but it dosen't launch the truck 5 feet when hitting a bump, and they work awsome off road...my only gripe is the banana yellow color of them but whatever nothings perfect
