Sat is when I proposed the offer on the 09 New Sierra in inventory, and they ignored me the whole day

Sun, of course, hear nothing from my sales dude

Mon am...salesman comes running up to me, in the back shop, at 8am. Agrees completely with me that I was proposing a very decent deal, and was shocked when the store GM throws the deal away.

I told my sales guy "...if (store GM) wants to talk about the deal, he can call me up front and we can work it out..."

WEDNESDAY, 1pm, store GM tells me "I want nothing to do with YOUR deal..." I then found this...

A low mile, used 08 Crew Cab. About 10 minutes from my residence.

This company buys one-owner lease vehicles, then sells them. Opinions ??

First thing I'd do is all-black seat covers, the DIC, then some steering audio controls.

EDIT...click on TRUCK, then 08 Sierra.........................

wow, your GM sounds like a complete ass. the new truck you found, is it a 5.3 or 4.8? looks like a nice truck, in fact i have the exact same truck with a 4.8L. i got mine new for $22,500 during the red-tag sales event last december. not saying this isn't a good deal, just giving a point of reference. i'd say since you hold a position at a dealer that you're a better judge of whether or not this is a good deal. how much can you get it for?

Yup, the 08 has the 4.8, and a 3.42 posi diff

towing isn't a big issue at all; otherwise I'd be looking for a 3.73

I'm thinking of offering $22k and see what happens...

Super-Low miles though..........

super low miles indeed. i'd scoop it up for 22K if i were in the market for a new rig. mine's the 3.42 G80 as well. with a few upgrades the SL model is perfect IMO. i'm not a big fan of the two tone seats either, but so far mine have remained without covers. i've added a leather steering wheel w/ no radio controls (too good of a deal to pass up: $50 shipped), DIC, fog lights, DL3 mirrors, wheels/tires. i don't mind the manual T-case at all. truck is everything i need, coudn't be happier.

when i bought mine there was an identical truck in silver-birch on the lot for the same price - basically the same truck you're looking at. it took a long time for me to decide....i love both colors.

i say go for it. offer 22K and get a chance to show your GM how much of an idiot he is for missing a sale.

That's a lot for a W/T IMO, but if you think it's a good deal for your area go for it and make sure you take you GM out to lunch in it. Oh and leave his a$$ there.

it's not the W/T packack, it's the SL package. there is a difference. if this truck were for sale in my area the clean retail according to NADA is $31,700.

Why does it seem there's ALWAYS drama surrounding your vehicle purchases?

Maybe you just need to start buying from different people than you have in the past whether you work there or not.

You'll save yourself a lot of headache.

$31,700 for a used SL with a 4.8? That's robbery.

Sorry your right, it has cloth and a V8.

the SL package adds quite a few things:

Features shown below are in addition to, or in place of, WT 1SA features:

Air conditioning, single-zone, manual

Chrome grille surround

Cruise control

Floor carpeting, color-keyed

Glass, Solar-Ray deep-tinted

Moldings, bodyside, body-colored

Power door locks, power windows, power heated outside mirrors

Remote Keyless entry

Seat trim, Dark Titanium Cloth

it's still a run-of-the-mill truck, but it's definitely an incremental step up from the standard W/T package.

Stealth, did you do something to annoy the General Manager? Something not related to the vehicle sales perhaps? It seems strange that he would be so rude for no reason.

14 cars since 2000 is a lot. I don't know if you've made a profit on them when you sell them, but maybe he has the impression you're to out buy low to sell for profit.

Just a thought.

+1

Hate to say it, but it sure sounds like there's something else going on behind the scenes.

If you take a GMS discount thee is a period you need to keep the car/truck. In pretty sure it's 6 months but could be 1 year. If you sell before this time they penilize you. If you have 14 vehicles since 2000 via your discount with GMS it might not be the GM that is saying no deal. I also don't understand why you don't go to another GM dealer with your GMS discount, your not stuck with just shopping at the dealer you work at.

For those of us that have the GMS discount it sounds like you may have abused it, it does not sound reasonable that you would go buy a used truck and pay more for it that what you can get with rebates ($6500) and GMS dicount (at least $3000) plus your trade. At a minimum you could go supplier discount (average of about 2K to 3K depending on cost of vehicle) and still better than the "used" truck with 3000 miles and low options. GM is selling those on the lot with the rebates and GMS or employee discount cheaper than that.

Why are you not shopping elseware with your GMS or supplier discounts? You know you can do better than used prices with the incentives and pricing available to you right?

Didn't know I could use my GMS at another dealer...I'll have to read up on that...

I have NOT bought 14 new since '00...my entire life I've bought 3 new, the rest are used....

Everybody's been on edge lately at the store...I didn't do anything wrong....

daddy, I am certainly trying to AVOID any type of extra "drama" during any type of purchase...
