Tailgate Seal - Good Product

Recommended Posts

I installed a Agricover Tailgate seal on my 08 GMT900 a few weeks ago, just before leaving on a 4700 mile road trip. The installation was pretty straight forward and didn't take long. For the front of the bed I sealed it with silicone and the large holes under the bedrail I used the foam rubber blocks provided in the "TrailSealTotal Bed Seal" kit.

After several rain storms, snow showers that melted to wet, muddy roads, etc., I detected little if any leakage from the tailgate.

It is, by far, the best tailgate seal I've used. I've tried a number of kits and other solutions I created using commonly available seal materials. None of them worked as well. Of course this product is not flawless and I expect it to require replacement every year or two. But, hey, it works at least.

I highly recommend you try this product if you need a tailgate seal.

Sorry to dig this old post up, but wanted to share my opinion of this Agricover seal too.

I just installed it today in hopes of better weatherproofing my bed after adding a soft tonneau cover to it. I had bookmarked this post for when I needed one because of spurshot's positive comments. I must say that the tailgate seal seems well thought out. The multiple pieces seem to work real well together to seal that large gap around the tailgate, whereas I see how some of the single-piece seals are a lot less effective. I haven't subjected it to any rain yet (it was a nice sunny low-70s kinda day), but I think it'll do well. My only slight concern is that my bed is Line-X'd so I don't know how well the tape will hold over time since it had to adhere to the Line-X in some areas, but we'll see.

I'd also be curious, if you see this spurshot, to hear an update on how yours is holding up since you've had it for a few months now.

And I will be interested on how yours turns out. I have the Line-X liner and a Truxedo LoPro QT cover. Please keep us updated!! :happysad:

I have one, it came free with my seal and peal tonneau cover, I did a ugly job putting it in and when I go through the high power wash everything stays dry! I am thinking about getting another one and doing a better job putting it in.

put one on last April with the Undercover lid...did it to keep dust out from dirt roads..works well...leaks just a little dust not very much...keeps say 99% of dust out...

Put the whole bed seal kit on my 2 years ago and no problems, my kit had a seal for the front of the bed, tailgate, foam block for the big holes and small clear stickers for the small holes and it was only $35.00.

This sounds really promising. I'll have to look around to see where I can get me one of these in Ontario. Thanks for the write up and picture.

I bought mine online. I think that may be the only way to buy them. I bought the entire kit that came with the forward seal and the foam blocks to fill the large production holes under the inside of the bed rail. I looked at the forward seal and just calked the bed with silicone like my old trucks have been calked. I put the foam blocks in the production holes.

After 5-6 months or more, the seal is holding up well. I expect the seal will need replacement based on damage from dragging something across it or every few yrs. I did add some of the angle shaped seal around the top of the tailgate area to ensoure no water comes in the my camper shell.
