Tranny Slipping Out Of Gear From A Stop

so twice within the past week ive hit the gas and my truck has barely moved. the first time i was at a stop sign and i took my foot off the brake, hit the gas as normal, and the truck tried to move but didnt. the engined revved and it crawled and bucked a little, very softly, not like a slammed it into gear, but as if it gently locked in. i let off, slowly hit the gas and all was well. the second time was earlier tonight. i shifted into drive, went to go, nothing. whats weird is that this has never happened before, ive had hard 1-2 shifts but nothing like this, until i had the tranny fluid and filter changed last month.

i never "roll shift" as i call it, ever. i always shift, pause, go. the truck has over 90,000 miles on it now, it has had bigger tires for awhile, and i do use it like a truck, so, the question is how much longer you guys think i got until its done? or am i overreacting?

How much time? Why not just get it fixed NOW?!. Unless you want to be in the middle of traffic waiting for a tow. :rollin:

i looked up what the solenoid pack does, and it seems that could be it. any idea of how much that would cost in case its not covered under warranty?

I had that happen a couple times on my 05. Exact same thing you described. Mine did it with less than 30K Traded it in just after 40K so I never had it loked at. As seldom as it happened I knew it was a waste bringingit to the dealer as I knew they would say "we cant seem to duplicate the problem" At least till it was out of warranty! :rollin:

The longer you wait, the more it will cost to fix.

yeah, i figured that, but its really just a matter of if i can wait until next week when i get paid or if its urgent enough to put on a credit card. or if i can wait until im due for an oil change would be even better.

Take it to a well known tranny shop and talk to them about it. They'll give you a pretty straight answer fairly quickly as well as a price for your area.

If its jus a solenoid issue and you dont take it to the dealer, it shouldnt be a crazy expensive fix.

NEVER pay cash for an auto repair. Always use a credit card. A credit card is your way of getting your money back if the repair is not done right. Pay cash & you lose.

how so? even with cash i still have a receipt.

Have you check the basics first before assuming its a solenoid pack?

Since you just had the transmission service, did you make sure that the transmission is full? Sometimes its not always filled correctly during service. Might just need some fluid added.

My truck started doing the same thing a few months back and now it happens almost every time I put it into drive. It happens shifting into reverse about 50% of the time, too. I haven't had any issues at stop lights like you but I have the exact same symptoms right after shifting into/out of gears.
