07 Vmax Brake Rotor Suggestions?

Well I have 44K on my 2007 NBS VMax and already turned the front rotors once due them being warped. So I like to change them before the snow starts to fall here. Should I invest in slotted or drilled rotors? Did search but didn't really find any goof information. Thanks!!

Look into R1concepts. Have better rotors than stock and can get them slotted, drilled, dimpled or a combination of the three.

I always hear about Powerslot rotors and EBC and Hawk pads. How do these pads wear? Do they last a good while under normal driving conditions?

Your rotors were warped and were turned at 44K?? Sounds like you are pretty hard on brakes. What shape are the pads in? How much material is left?

I traded in my old 99 Silverado last year and with 77K on it the original rotors were still looking like new and the original pads still had about 40% remaining. I had even towed my car for 3 race seasons and the stock truck brakes worked great.

If you are hard on brakes, then you probably won't like the fact that some of the cheapy drilled rotors will not last at all. Many of these will crack around the holes and it's possible that they could even fail.

Slotted rotors may be OK, but some slotted rotors can eat away at the pads.

I would go with stock-type rotors from NAPA, Brembo stock replacement, or the Raybestos Professional Grade rotors. FWIW, most all replacement rotors are made in China and you should not expect really long life from them.

For pads, Hawk, EBC, Raybestos all make good ceramic pads. But if you do heavy braking, haul heavy loads or tow, then look at semi-metallic pads. Hawk makes some good truck pads. But expect more dust than a ceramic or even OEM pad.

I posted this in another thread recently, but I had the SSBC slotted rotor upgrade kit on my Yukon and they lasted under three years. The rotors were pitted and chunks were missing, and the pads were cracking. I then switched to Summit Racing Equipment diamond-cut slotted rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads. The stopping power was dramatically improved and after a year the rotors still had the shiny plating on the non-wearing surfaces.

I am sure that Summit has these rotors made for them by a rotor manufacturer. I don't know who the manufacturer is, but I was very happy with the product. You can check the Summit website to see if they have rotors for your truck.

I have not driven this truck any different than my 02 GMC 1/2 ton which I put 55K and never had to do a brake job or my 2004 1500 HD that I had 60K with no issues. As for the brake pads they were almost as thick as the new ones I put on it. When I searched warped pads I found quite of few 07 NBS owners upset that they had the same issue and Chevy wouldn't do anything about it. Only thing I have towed with this truck is a 1987 21' Sea Ray and a 17' Crestliner Fishing Boat.

Thanks for the help!
