Blackbear Tune

I have a few questions. I'd like to get a tune for my PCM and TCM but not sure If I can wait till spring.

1. In person tune,... best option? Whats different from just the mail order? Same results from what I've read?

2. Can I use the data logging feature from my Diablo and email the file to build a tune for my truck instead?

3. Cost for PCM/TCM tune and core charge for an 07 GMC Vmax?

Says $200 for mail order, but I don't see a price for the TCM. And the Cores are $60-$200 so thats quite a spread.

Thanks

1. In person and the data log tune give basically the same results. The plain mail order is a little more generic and not going to give you as good of results the first time. In my opinion the in person is worth the wait and cheaper. 250 vs 300

2. I don't know.

3. I believe the core charge for the PCM/TCM combo is 220

Send this exact post to Jenna and she will answer all of your questions.

Ah C'mon Steve,Wait 'til Spring!!!

I think for the GMT900 trucks an ECM is $160 and the TCM is $60 if you want spare modules.

Well maybe I will, but email sent anyways... I was looking at his (BB) calendar and it's not even on there

I've been talking to Justin in e-mails,and told him to let me know when he wants to do another Pittsburgh tune meet,He told me either March or April would be good for him,So I told him to pick a weekend and we'll go with it,I'm just waiting to hear back from him!

I might see him next month if I make the trip down to the Charlotte tune meet Dec. 11-13th.

I've never had my GMT900 tuned yet but have had alot of tuning on my prior Camaro SS LS1's combo's. An on location tune is better as you get face to face feedback on the spot. Changes can be made quickly via the tuner and if the owner does not like it or wants it slightly tweaked it can be done on the spot. You can also try different setups and choose what you like. Same thing can be done via mail tune but the main drawback lies in having to ship the ECM to and fro in case you need to change.

Exactly! When you do the in-person, you get the initial tune like you would if you were getting the cable tune but then Justin can further adjust "on-the-fly".

He was seeing unexpectedly higher airflow in mine than he had seen in previous SDs () and he was able to adjust accordingly. I got an awesome performance boost right after the tune but now it's even better. I guess the truck's learning that I usually drive agressively and is making more adjustments. Now when I launch I'm getting serious wheelspin and having traction control kick-in where as it didn't do that right after the tune. I've even had the TC light come on during the 1-2 shift on dry asphalt... :banghead:

Exactly thats why I never do any mods until im out of warranty, I have heard that GM is getting even more strict on stuff like this.

Well, I have an extra ECM. The TCM is not user servicable on the 6spd.

I plan on getting the Autocal or V2 depending on the cost of the Autocal when released. I'll be able to flash the TCM back to stock with either one of those. As long as the transmission doesn't jump the shark in the next few months, I should be fine.
