New Battery At 18,000 Miles

Hey there!

 

Yesterday I took my truck in for 18,000 mile service. After they finished with the service, the truck wouldn't start. The technician checked the battery, and discovered it was the problem. They replaced the battery under warranty.

 

A month ago, I was having a problem with the battery warning light. The warning light would come on and go off at different times. I took it to the dealer, and they told me that the truck was fine. They didn't find any problems with the light or battery.

 

Has anyone else had this problem with the light or replacing the battery? The truck is only 2 years old with 18,000 miles. Is it possible that the battery itself was defective? I've never had to replace the battery any earlier than every four or five years. I was surprised.

It's possible the battery was defective though.

I've got a 02' and my battery light comes on and will go back off in a second. This only happens when i'm towing my boat though. There is no pattern to it, it just blinks on and off when it wants to. W/O the boat it very rarely comes on, like maybe once a week or something. I'm thinking the extra load of the trailor lights is causing it. I've read before that people with an amp have the same problem time to time and i do have one.

Tell them to put the old one back in & you can confirm it is defective.

 

 

 

 

I have not had this happen to me personally but have heard of it happening.
