Help!! Now that I am throughly confused. Is there any system that has a metal tube? I know the Airaid has a metal tube for the older trucks but not the new models, and then I like the closed concept of the Volant and UPD, but most of all I like the power of the K&N FIPK. But recently a few of you have experienced melted plastic tubes and for a winter climate is the open concept of the Airaid and K&N a wise choice. Have I missed anything? Give me your most informed opinion PLEASE! ???

I've got a K&N FIPK and I live in Wisconsin, which I would say is a very cold climate.  I've got no problems and no regrest w/ running an open air filter.  Qutie frankly, compared to the rest, I would say it sucks the most (air that is).  The way I see it is that there is more open area to let air get to the filter so in theory it would be able to suck the most.

I think there is one called AirForce, or something ike that, that uses a stainless steel tube.  Maybe someone else will know the web site, because I can't seem to find it now.  ???

Have you seen any pics of the actual silverado system or one installed on a truck?  The generic picture they have is obviously not for a silverado and if it is, it's missing a few pieces.  But, the stainless steel looks good, especially if you're going for a billet look under the hood.

Have you read the post up in aftermarket about the FIPK. About the filter getting wet in the rain.....This is what I am worrying about. Tell me... you have them on yours, I don't know, now you know why I am confused, so many different claims.

Hey no cheap shots ....I already know I am a confused old bugger.

Where can i get the K&N FIPK Cheap online? Anyone know? Its for my Denali  :banghead:

Well you can get the look alikes as in my case and another member in the 1500 forum area with the only real difference is the cone color.  K&N is red while ours are blue.  He even hads pictures of it installed to judge for your self.  It's excatly the same air intake system but with no name.  I think it's funny because I used the K&N installation instructions (d/l off the web) to install my no name air intake kit.  Not only that buy it's my no name is for the exact same model years as the K&N (99-03).  They worked to the T.  Word for word, picture by picture, detail by detail.  Mine cost me $65 shipped off E-bay.  However I'm not going to recharge/clean this filer I'm just going to buy a new K&N universal cone replacement (I'd do the same with the K&N only becase I can't see washing it and spray-ing something on it that may or may not get into my engine).  Good luck!
