Plowing Maintence?

Ok guys i have a suburban 2500 4x4 6.0 and yes long island new york got over 20 inches of snow and the truck did great just like i expected. The truck is a higher mileage vehicle and i was wondering what i need to do to keep it runnign well. I changed the differential fluids both front and rear with mobile 1 and had a new trans filter installed and changed 5 quarts in the tranny. can u change tranny fluid with out payin chevy 225 dollars for a flush and what is auto trac fluid can it be replaced with anything else? is there anything else to check or maintain other than the basics???? also is there any way for a limited slip diff to fail??? i seem to be slipped and swinnging in 2wd almost like only one wheel is spinning????

tranny needs the most attention, brakes,suspension, the diffs...if you plow civilized the thing will go forver

On my 2000 Silvy 2500, the tranny took the brunt of the abuse, and has on every plow truck we've owned. We got about 140k on it before the tranny said ****it.

 

Ball joints and wheel bearings are also big ones. along with tie rod ends, shocks, etc. Due to getting on it, off it, on it, often, it'll also burn oil sooner than typical. Mine now has 170k and burns about a quart every 5k miles.

 

I wouldn't plow with a burban though. Not professionally at least.
