Carpet Replacement In A 2000 Yukon Xl?

Recommended Posts

I am seriously considering replacing the carpet in my 2000 Yukon XL. It is close to beyond steaming or shampooing.

I'm in New Orleans and have been quoted no less than $900 for full carpet replacement (front and back). I can buy the pre-molded carpet and all of the material myself for around $300 so I am thinking of tackling the job on my own.

Has anyone done this? What all is involved? Are there instructions on taking out any of the side panels? The console? I figure the seat removal is fairly straight forward but the all of the side panels?? I dunno!

I would appreciate any and all help!

I think the seat removal will be the hardest part of it all. Most of the side panels can be easily removed, and I'm sure there are guides online making it even easier to remove the panels (explaining where screws, clips, etc. may be, so you can easily pry up on the trim).

Save the money and do the work yourself...

DO IT!

Pulling the seats and seat belts isn't a huge deal. You'll need to remove the sill trim and some of the quarter panel and center post trim. It's best if you have at least two people for the task but it's not that hard... especially considering the money saved. You should take pics and do a HOW TO thread here!

Thought about doing it to the 04 Escalade, carpet is reallllyy bad. Looked into it and it doesnt seem to hard. Just gotta un-bolt the seats, and most of the panels are [push pins or clips] so just lightly pull on the panels and they should snap off. I think the 00 yukons are the same interiors pretty much??
