License Plate Bracket

Recommended Posts

Bought an 07 Silverado NBS from North Carolina last week. Problem is that I'll need to mount a front plate to it when I register it in my home state and I don't have a mounting bracket. I checked with GM parts and some of the online vendors but didn't find one listed.

Anyone got a lead on where I can get a plate bracket? I hate to walk into a Chevy parts dept cuz they probably want an arm and a leg for one even though they're supplied at NC on vehicles shipped to states requiring a front plate.

Any help appreciated.

The option code on my window sticker is VK3, all it is a plastic piece you screw into the front bumper. I ordered mine with it. You shouldnt pay more than $15.

i wish i could take mine off.. got pulled over 3 times by dps here in texas for not having one.

I did some looking after the second time I got pulled over after moving to Texas, found a lot of post saying it is no longer the law to have a front plate if your vehicle doesn't have a bracket for one. The cops will still pull you over and just tell you its a warning just to use for a way to maybe get you on something else.

00-07 NBS never came with a bracket, they bolt directly to the bumper

After much research, I believe the man is correct. On a Silverado, they bolt to the bumper.

The GMC Sierra came with one.

My 05 GMC Sierra came with one and I have a spare. I worked at a GMC dealership in 05. They came from GM and would be in the truck with the floormats. The dealer would install them. The part # is 15199886. They are avalable from gmpartsdirest. (GMT800 03-07 GMC)

On the NBS Silverado you could bolt directly onto the bumper but the plate looked like crap as there is a plastic piece of trim that sticks out past the chrome bumper right underneath the mounting holes. This causes the bottom of the plate to stick out and point upward.

There is a mounting bracket for that body style as well as the NNBS it shouldn't be any more than $20 from gmpartsdirect.com

Could you tell us what that part number would be. I spent some time on this yesterday and the only listing I could find was one for Silverado SS. I don't believe it will fit.

I have a collision parts listing and there is not one listed.

There is one listed @ gmpartsdirect for the rear bumper.

You ARE still required to have a front and rear license plate in the State of Texas.

I don't know about the states but when I bought my truck it didnt have a front license plate bracket and BC requires one. It was $45 from GM with my discount ... retails at $85. YES $85!! It's free when you buy a NEW truck in a state/province that require front plates. And they are installed with 4 rivets.
