Guys I found a "new" lowe fish and ski (FS165). MSRP is $16995. This is what the place has listed on the site and last yr when I inquired about it (spring 09) they would not budge on the price. What is a good site for boat pricing or how much should I expect they come down off this price. Cabelas also has one and it is an 09.

I would probably have them swap out the motor (they can switch for a pirce adjustment) for a 4 stroke.

Daddy, I wish I could find one of these for sale (close) but closest is like missouri or texas.

I dont own a boat anymore....But 1000 bucks a foot is not bad IMO...especially with a 90 Merc...that's a damn good engine.

See if they will drop to 15995...than it's actually 1000 bones a foot.

My advice, as a boat owner, buy used. :flag:

+1

A quality used boat is the way to go. I bought a Cobalt a few years ago and sold it two years later for almost what i paid for it. Minus the maintenance of course. But it was a hell of a boat.

This is also the time of the year for boat shows. You can get a pretty good deal at a show. Especially with the economy the way it is now.

Ryan, I bought the same exact boat last year. It was an 08' leftover. I paid $13,500 for it, B/M/T.

I spent many hours researching this purchase. It really stacks up nicely to the competition, primarily to the comparable Tracker model. This model had more standard features and was rigged w/ a larger motor, for less money! I don't remember all the details but I faintly recall the Lowe using more stainless fasteners and utilizing slightly thicker aluminum on the hull. Lowe has been building boats a long time and offers a high quality boat in this segment / price range.

Remember, just like when you buy a vehicle anything is negotiable. I had the dealer order me a salt water series 12v trolling motor at his cost and had them throw in a coast guard pkg free. Thats a few hundred bucks right there. If you need any more info, let me know be glad to help

Any of you that own Tracker or others, not looking to start a flame war just expressing my personal experience :flag:

The Mercury 90hp elpto is a carbureted dinosour turd only put on boats for first time buyers. No one else will buy one. A carb engine runs like crap compared to a good EFI or DFI engine. The goal is to have the first time buyer back in the show room to trade up to a bigger boat with a modern engine, at a huge loss. At least get a fuel injected engine and a boat big enough for when the wind starts to blow.

Oh the price is way too high as it is a buyers market right now and the marine industry is flooded with unsold boats. Shoot for 20-30% or more off that price.

Gotta call BS on this one!

The merc elpto has been around a long, long time. It is for the most part, bullet proof and requires very little maintenance. The performance #'s are right up there with the latest high tech offerings. In fact it is probably quicker out of the hole and faster on the top end compared to a similar sized 4 stroke. Yes they are louder and produce fumes, IMHO, not worth the added expense. What is your ROI going with a 4 stroke? With the minuscule fuel savings if any and added maintenance it is going to take a long time to recoup your cost.

Thanks, how do you like that boat? Hows the room? Did you go with the 90HP motor?

I will second that on the Merc 90. I have a 2006 model, and it has performed flawlessly. I actually towed in a 4 stroke one day (Electronics problem).

Yes, it does make a little more noise, but not a big deal to me. And I can get on plane quicker than most of my buds with a 90 4 stroke. Of course, prop design also factors in there.

I'll have to join in on the 90 Merc too...we used them for years for commercial fishing, and they usually outlasted the boats we originally bought them for.

And maintenance money in the commercial fishing industry is something that no one wants to spend. so the basic maintenance you require on that old engine cost beans compared to the EFI models.

I'm talking corrective maintenance here...BTW. When the electronics gives out...you can look forward to a $2000+ bill...a carb goes...your looking at 200-300 for a rebuild...

So far, I love it. It is very economical to operate. Everything works as it should. With the exception of the stitching on the seat backs coming undone (covered under warranty) I've had zero problems.

Room wise very good for a 16' boat. My model has seating for 5. The lockable rod locker is great for keeping the rods out of the way and secure. The glove box is very generous. There is also a fish box that can be used for other items as well. The dual console layout allows you to tuck other items underneath i.e. life jackets, tackle boxes, cooler, etc. The boat is very comfortable for two people to fish from, plenty of casting room, more than that is doable just a bit cramped for my liking.

I did go with the 90 Merc., could not be happier with it to this point. My max speed with 1/2 tank of fuel, 2 men on board was 44 mph by gps. Its quick! I have used it in both fresh and salt water. Like I stated earlier I'm running a Motor Guide W55 Saltwater series wireless trolling motor. I hardly ever run the outboard. Depending on what you use for a deep cycle batt. you can run on all day on the trolling motor. Very, very cheap to run.

Overall, I could not be happier. Very versatile pkg. Ski, tube, fish, cruise, and the money you save on fuel can be used to feed that big ole' 6.2 on your tow vehicle
