Remote Start Prep.

I honestly didn't think I'd ever use the feature but with the temps hovering +/-30° F its turned out to be nice to walk out the back of work and start the truck from 100 yards away, then wait 5 minutes before swiping out to get into a nice warm ride home. It evens turns on the Heated Seats ... :dunno:

I may spoil myself and drive the truck to work tomorrow or Thurs. That remote start makes for a wonderful experience after a long night of work.

Agreed. Someone asked when I was ordering my Sierra why I wanted remote start if it's usually garaged at the house. I may not need to warm it up at home, but since I work nights it's nice to have it warmed up at the end of shift before I head home. And I'm really looking forward to it come summer to see how well it'll cool it off during the Texas heat.

Over xmas my truck sat out at my parents house for a week. Every day we were going somewhere to show off the new baby. It sure was nice to hit the remote start from the house, then 5-10 min later take the baby out to a warm truck (it didnt hurt me either hehe). It did waste some gas but thats alright.

I just called my Dealer here that we bought our 09 2500 HD from, and talked to them about this. They had not heard of this and instructed me to other places to get a remote start installed and then talked to another guy and explained it some and looked up my part number i provided and did some reading and said yep just gotta reprogram the bcm, so they said $60 to do it for time then the $195 for parts. Is the part of gmparts just the two transmitters? Then the reprogrammed bcm just detects them and they work? Or is there actually a module you need to plug into the trucks computer somewhere that is hard to install? What i am getting at, if its nothing to install i will order the remotes online and bring it to the dealer, if you have to plug something in i will let them order the same parts and do the install. Just curious, as this would be nice on the work truck in cold weather MN this time of year doing installs! Thanks everyone. Ryan

The parts in the kit are the two remotes, a new glovebox label changing the RPO code to the remote start, and the instructions that have the code in them. The dealer calls GM with this code and gives them you VIN. GM then emails a new BCM program for your truck with the remote start turned on. This way, if you ever have to get the BCM reflashed again, the remote start feature will be there. There are no parts to change in the truck itself.

I tried the Autostart on my '08 this summer. It turned the A/c on and cooled the interior down

Now I just wish there was something on key FOB to tell if they truck is running or not...now then it would be perfect.

I believe that is what the 2 Way Advanced Remote is for.
