Which Will Benefit More ?

I like the Banks Monster exh and the magnaflow exh..

Will I benefit more from a cat back exh or a Cold air intake ? are the K&N's really worth the money or does a air raid gain just as much ???

Benefit how? Neither will give you much of a performance gain. Both will make noise. Most of the intakes are just about the same, they don't do a whole lot other than make a little noise.

I love the sound of my Magnaflow, and the cool looks of the K&N......

Neither does a dammmm thing for performance or mpg.....I guess there is some performance gain at 5000 rpms, but I do not often drive in that rpm range....ahah

Well niether choice alone or by iteself will yield anything. But in combo with some other things and you will benefit. You would be better off going with exhaust first. You have to be able to evacuate the exhaust gases before you can think about more air or fuel.

A custom tune will get you the best bang for the buck.

Long Term plan is CAI cat back exh and a Tune by Livernois Motorsports, Oh i almost Forget a set of headers to get rid of the Factory manifold bolt problem.. (at least the my justification for it)

I totally understand. If you want to start with Stage One- intake exhaust and tune. Then work your way up from there.

Long tubes and a tune....

does anyone make long tube headers for the 4x4 trucks ?? (that aren't horendesly expensive)

I just dont get it.. when looking for trucks i test drove an 05 with the 285s on it.. and he got 13 mpg he had flowmaster 40 series and a K&N CAI... my dash says 10 mpg but im calculating out 8.7 (granted my speedo is off) ive also got the same size 285s as him.. im tempted to get some 245s for the truck cause i know that'll improve my performance and tow easier but the truck just looks right with the 285s on it. the 245s look tiny !

just chiming in, and 99 7.4 is exactly right for any noticable diifrence you need to do both, intake(more air in) exhaust(better air out) ,also over the years having them and talking to guys, k&n seems anymore sfter research to be one of the worst. they may let more air in faster but is it worth the bad or negative filtration, that motors gonna run better for a longer time nice and clean. Also like blackbear said a good tune like one of his will give you the difrfence you want and run correctly and effciently. I bilieve a stock delco filter had better airflow&filtration than all of the others..

You have to remember, that your engine needs to know what to do with the extra air in/out or you are just choking it essentially. This is why it is best to get your engine tuned for modifications...your engine will be more efficiently run.
