So I am currently running the 3 month trial period for XM. I must say I am very impressed. I like the 50s on 5, 60s on 6, 70s, on 7, 80s, on 8, and 90s on 9, along with some of the family based talk radio shows, but my favorite, believe it or not, is good old Channel 72. SPA!

Sirius here. I did a free trial of XM back in 07 and was not happy with it. I bought sirius the following week and never looked back. Now that they are just about one in the same there is very little difference. I love my sirius, the customer service has pissed me off a few times but they have made up for it. I would hate to go anywhere with out it, and when I get in someone elses car that doesnt have it i realize what a good choice I made.

I often have the following on.

60 - the highway

? - Classic Rewind

24 - lithium

100 - howard stern

101 - howard stern/bubba

123 - mad dog sports radio

70's

80's

90's

? - boneyard

? hair nation

My wife will also have cosmo radio. We are very happy with it. And dont bash howard stern until you tune in for a full week, then you will know what its about, not what you think its about!

I listen to Octane and Liquidmetal, I'm still using the 3 free month trial, but $17+ dollars is a lot just for just music; so I probably won't renew.

I lucked out when I bought my truck used. I guess the previous owner had a 1-year subscription, because the XM was in service for nine months. One day it stopped and by that time I was addicted. I called XM to get the XM in my name and they gave me the 3-month trial. So I got about a year for free. After the trial I managed without it for a month or so, until I was stuck in a ten mile backup on I-95 late at night. I've had it since.

My oldest daughter likes it for the pop stations and Radio Disney. Most morning commutes, though, XM only comes on during the commercial breaks for the Walton and Johnson show on FM.

I have had XM for about 5 years now.

I bought it for the 40s channel, MLB, and FoxNews.

Some of my other interests are the 80s genre, and "old time radio".

We used to have 3 subscriptions, but now it is down to just mine.

Since the XM/Sirius merger, the programming on XM is not as good as it was before. There are times I switch over to AM/FM because I can't find anything on XM's 175 channels. :tumbleweed: Talk about a waste.

MLB is really the only reason I keep it. I can get news/talk on AM, 80s on FM, and the 40s, and old time radio on my iPhone's iPod.

How are you going to pay that much? I have sirius unlimited or whatever they call it when you get every sirius channel, and I have internet radio also, i am only paying 25/3 months. I called and told them I was going to quit bc i could not afford the pricing now that it was going up, they gave me a year at $24 every 3 months. I just plan to call back when my year is up and try the same BS again.

Have XM and like it. In the western part of the state you have country and more country on regular radio and need sat radio to keep my sanity. A year ago they gave me a $9.99/month deal if I signed for 3 years, not a bad deal.

I think out of all the channels, I only listen to about 4 of them, Octane, The Highway, Blue Collar Comedy and Rawdog. I think I have to branch out and see whats on all the other channels.

XM since 2003 and I love it. Bluegrass, Willie’s Place, Outlaw Country (with Mojo Nixon, that booger eating moron), and Roadhouse.

I spend a lot of time driving in the Northern Neck of Virginia and there is nothing on FM worth listening to there. I think there is fundamentalist evangelical radio station and that is about it. That isn’t entertaining for long.

It looks like over the next 4 years I’ll be driving a lot between southern Maryland and central Vermont. Last summer made the drive in a rental car without satellite radio and it was miserable. All those FM country stations sound the same and none of them sound good.

I didn't renew the XM in my truck as our local FM rock stations are actually better. I do have Sirius in my boat as radio reception is not that great on the water. I like Classic Vinyl, Classic Rewind, Hair Nation, etc.... Some of the country ones are ok too. I just activte in May and deactivate in Oct. When I call them to do either they normally give me a good deal. Last year they gave me 3-4 months for $20. They are in bad shape right now with subscriptions and need anything they can get. I will say that sound quality is subpar for what you pay.

Sirius and listen to stern and other channels in that order. My cars are usually loud so sound quality doesn't matter that much....although I never had an issue with it. I'm on the 2nd radio plan so pay less for it. FM here in the east(philly) area is bad.
