V6 To V8

I have a Silverado 99 v6 and was thinking of doing an engine swap to a v8..Theres a v8 for sale but im not sure if it fits perfectly or would i have to do other modifications.It was in a 1966 Chevy C-10 truck with a 700 RT-4 Trans..any advice let me know thanks..

You need a motor from the same generation to make it an easy swap. Otherwise, you'll have a whole mess of other issues.

You might want to get the front clip with frame (or the mounts and some good measurements so you can fix the in your frame good and square). If my memory serves me right the engine mounts are in different spots...

 

Oh yeah, are you going to put a LS series motor in the truck????

Sell your truck; use the money you were going to use for the swap and get one that is right. I've done it on a 98 S-10 and helped on a 96 1500 in the end it was cool that you had a bigger motor than it did, but for the cost it wasn't worth it.

I've seen a 1986 V6 swapped with a 5.3L, I've seen a 1999 V6 swapped with a 6.0L, neither was simple.

 

to go backwards (to a 350 ci carbed motor) you would have a lot to deal with, starting with the fuel system, cooling system, dash guages, etc. The swap is not worth it.
