I consider that when your dealer tags expire for a new vehicle, that vehicle is no longer Brand New... So my truck is no longer Brand New, it is still new; but not brand new, my state tag will go on tonight... :)

We were happy when our Permanent Tags and Title came in the Mail, because it meant we OWNED our Silverado! not One Penny Owed on it! its at 5556 Miles, and it STILL has faint whiffs of New Truck Smell!

Interresting......

In Ontario, the plates on the veichle are yours the day you pick up the vechicle. ie. the dealership will register the vechicle with the MTO (Ministry of Transportation of Ontario) for you and have the plates put on. No temp plates.

so I guess my truck is in some sort of limbo, I opted to keep my vanity plates and transfer them to the new truck... therefore I have the plate on the backseat waiting on my registration certificate before I'm allowed to display it.

lol, in the the US of A, the dealertag for a new vehicle is used by some as somewhat a status symbol. People keep them on there till they expire of even pass the expiration date, because they want others to know; that they bought a "new car/truck"... :)

I just keep transferring my current plate from truck to truck when I get a new one,I haven't had a "T" plate for over 20 years!!!

Besides...Pa. does not issue a temporary plates, now you do have to wait for your registration sticker to put on the plate, but if don't transfer your original plate like I do,the plate you get when you buy a vehicle is the plate you have on it from the day you buy it.

I kept mine on a week. I actually just threw it away this past weekend (I took it off Mid nov)

Just put my plates on today too! It does make me kinda sad :)

In Minnesota, you just get a yellow piece of paper in the back window until you get your plates.

Remember it depreciated its largest amount when you pressed the pin to the paper and signed your name.... That is really a quite depressing yet refreshing moment rapped up in one scribble of your name.

Just hope that don't slap ya with a surprise "Luxury Tax, vehicles with MSRP over 40k" at the tax buying your tag. I remember that one... I bought mine in 01 the truck was 2 years old. I had to pay that "Luxury Tax" for 3 more years. Made my $500 tag just a tick under $1300........ I had called and asked how much the tag was before I bought the truck. Purchased it they wanted the VIN number when I got there to get the tag..... Then they bomb shelled me with that 129X bucks for the tag and the TAX!!! Just my experience but it is a overwhelming $43 bucks now....

However, I believe the state raised it in 2006 to 50k or 60k can not remember..... It may not even be in place any more.....

In Maryland we dont get temp tags you eather transfer tags from truck to truck or car to car or if your going from a truck to a car or SUV to a truck etc the dealer will give you new metal tags.

I wish the new truck smell would stay but I guess all the farts chase the new smell out.

Whenever I got my Plymouth, I had to get a new Tags as the old Tags belonged to the previous owner. same thing when we sold our '81 Sierra Classic. we had to get the Tag back from the New Owner.

Interesting. That seems weird to me. One of the first things I do is take the temp tag off (if I have one) and put on the new plates (if I'm not transferring my old ones). It's definitely NOT a status symbol for me...quite the opposite actually. I bet most people could care less knowing that you have a "new" vehicle. To each their own I guess.

I think some people leave the temp tag on the windshield on there for years. I just chalk it up to them being retards. I took that thing off as soon as my real plate was on.

    • Brought my 2015 Colorado into the dealership to check my touch screen issues, had that ghost touch thing happening. They said I needed a new touch screen and they could either order me one for $500. The lady at the service deck was nice enough to tell me I could order a touch screen online for less, she did stipulate that the touch screen had to be factory OEM, you can't pair an aftermarket screen to my radio seeing it was 2015, it had to be a GM factory OEM only. I found a few on Amazon and Ebay by the numbers on the back of the old screen, DJ080PA-01A GM# 22740886, Some said "OEM" in the description and others just said "Replacement". Would a replacement be the same as a OEM as long as it had the same numbers on the back of the screen? In some of the descriptions they also show different brand names but same numbers, is that an issue?
    • I have both but typically use the 4 legged walker (wheels on front, ski's on back).   The four wheeler is starting to be used on "longer" outdoor walks.  The 4 legged walker is particularly helpful in practicing good walking posture.  Both of my knees are at different stages of recovery and I'm trying to not develop poor habits.  I can actually manage with a cane but it's very difficult not to favor one leg over the other.  My PT recommends I continue with my 4 legged walker for a while.  Yesterday was four weeks since my last knee replacement and I'm excited about my progress to date.  It has been a hell of a rough journey so far but it is exciting to witness  systematic and continuous improvement.  I went for years watching the decline of my "mobility".  It seems that everyday now I am alerting my wife to something I can do now that I couldn't a day or two ago!  I encourage anyone facing the prospect of knee replacement to share any concerns with others who have had the surgery.  It isn't an instant fix but rather is a considerable amount of short term pain for long term gain.  Recovery time and pain levels vary for individuals post surgery but the end results are typically very positive and I've never encountered anyone regretting having had the surgery.
    • The lifter issue can be dealt with by shorter oil changes and quality oil IMO.
    • Got heavy rain, hail and light rain yesterday.
    • I'm putting in an A-pillar pod/gauges, and I'm asking if anybody can identify a (preferably) fuse for a switched power and illumination circuit on the driver's side interior fuse panel. Offhand, everything I checked with a test light was constant-hot, and I'd much rather uses a piggyback fuse. I can certainly find a wire, but I'd rather not half-tap.   Thanks in advance for any help.
