Need Tire Guidance (shopping)

I have an '08 Silverado crewcab 2WD. I live in Florida and I'm looking for a nice AT tire for the price. I have the 17" oem wheels and I want something that looks somewhat aggressive but isn't going to make alot of noise. I think I want to go with 275/70R17's. Maybe the next size up, I dont know. Can someone post side profile pics of the different sizes? And maybe a couple with leveling kits (and brands). I might even consider a level kit. Currently I'm running the stock baby 245 profile tires and they've seen 20K miles (DONE!)

Tire rack wants an average of $100 for shipping. Discount Tire doesn't have all the sizing options. And Walmart, I'm just skeptical. And I sure as hell don't want to get bent over paying retail

I have a 4x4 and just adjusted the torsion bars to level the truck. The front is less than a 1/2 lower than the rear and you can not tell a difference in the ride. Usually the guys at discount tire will do this to allow room for oversize tires. I have the 285/70R17 BFG AT T/O and the look great! Road noise not an issue. On the 2WD 275 is prob a large as you can go with out rubbing unless you get an after market wheel. I also like the Nitto Terra Grappler. The 275 is basically a 32" tire (I think 31.8 to be exact) which on a 2WD truck will look plenty beafy! Good luck

go with a 285 65 or 70 17

strongly recommend the nitto terra grappler..........easy 50 k on the tires if you rotate and they look killer

I was SUPER happy with mine

Without researching the available tire sizes for your rim I can tell you the Cooper Zeon LTZ's are very nice looking tire - just agressive enough and don't make ANY noise. That's what I'm running and love em. They're cheaper than the Nitto's too. I got mine to the door from Treaddepot for 675 after the 25 dollar internet discount deal. If you buy them from there you pay no taxes which pretty much cancels out the shipping and handling. I saved about 150 bucks buy buying over the internet. Tire shop charged 100 plus tax to change em over. If I were at home i'd post a pic

If you don't want to spend a lot, Firestone Destination AT (standard load), from Onlinetires.com are $126 per tire for 285/70/17 (32.8"). You would need to install level kit for them to fit. They do also have 275/70/17 (load range C) for $150 each, which might fit stock height. I'm happy with mine, they're quiet, and they get lots of great reviews on the Tirerack.com. I got the 285s for around $550 (no shipping cuz they're close to where I live). I bought the 6-spoke wheels off ebay for $400 shipped, then sold my old wheels and tires for $250. LSS, about $750 out of pocket to upgrade, not including level kit.

The GMT-900's do not have torsion bars to adjust

I agree. I'm running the Cooper Zeon LTZ in 275/55/20 and couldn't be happier.

i noticed someone said the coopers are not as expensive as the nittos? They are both the same price at 150 bucks each at discount tire.

Best looking tires in your category are the cooper zeon ltz and the nitto terra grapplers

+1 for the Coopers. I found out about them through this site myself. Have had them for just under 5,000 miles and have driven them in every condition. Have been impressed the whole way.
