Whitish Chalky Residue Streaks From Mirrors?

I have not seen this posted here but my 08 everytime it rains or I wash it, white residues runs down the door and leaves a very hard streak to clean. I have to use light rubbing compound to get it off and then rewax the doors. I have folded the mirrors in and see the white crap which I assume is salt residue from the winter but on my other trucks I never had to clean this streak off because my other mirrors didnt do this Maybe it does not show on other colors but mine is the Granite color and my neighbor also has the same color in a GMC and he said he has the exact same streaks on each corner of the quarter door windows and both doors.Pretty pathetic after spending $35000 for a vehicle and have to put up with this.

I get that after a good rainstorm. It is wierd. Maybe soap from washing gets in the mirror assembly then later drains out?

I get it too, I had to use the crap out of my claybar to remove it. There was enough built up to leave a dull mark down the door

Same here, I seem to always wipe that spot over and over again after a wash. I found a blow tip on the air comp. blows all the water out pretty darn good

It's car wash soap trapped behind the mirror running down the door. Get out your clay bar and remove the residue, then go on with your day.

Cut the "Pretty pathetic after spending $35000 for a vehicle and have to put up with this." crap.... it happens to ALL vehicles. $35000 doesn't entitle you to anything special.

For $35K, these trucks should come with a forcefield to keep out the weather. They should also be self-cleaning and should do my laundry for me.

Man, that sucks for you guys . j/k I live in Louisiana and I don't have the salt thing to worry about. I get the residual water blown from the mirrors to the doors after a wash but I can just wipe with a towel and comes right off, no clay bars or rubbing compound.

P.S. ALL vehicles I've ever owned do this, so don't feel bad.

On a side note I waxed my truck with Meguire's NXT 2 I think it's called and went to the spray car wash yesterday to blow the mud off after going to the Camp and Man does that ish work. Like I waterproofed my whole truck, barely had anything to wipe off after a short drive to my house. FTW.

It's not salt, guys, it's minerals in your water left behind after the water evaporates. Either get a leaf blower to remove the water or get one of those Mr.Clean mineral remover water softener cartridge things and rinse well with it. They actually work - I learned after repeatedly having spots with a black truck!

i've heard a solution for blazers when water would get trapped behind the light is to drill a hole in the bottom of the mirror housing for it to drain out.. you cant see it and it doesn't hurt anything..

i dont know if this is a good idea or a solution for our trucks, but it's an option.. i dont know where a strategic location for the hole would be.. just an idea.

I had the same problem with the moldings on the doors. My truck sits on a slanted driveway. At first I was worried because I couldnt get it off. I just used some cleaner wax, and it came off fairly easy. No biggie. I figure you cant keep them new forever

I don't get the white stuff but I do get the water the stays trapped in the mirror, handle, moldings and whatnot. I just blow really hard and get as much out as i can.
