I have a 1 inch scratch on my passenger side door and its down to the bare metal...how can I apply the touch up paint without making it look ugly? Is there a trick to this? I understand it's not going to look like new but I want to do the best job possible. Thanks.

How wide is the scratch? I put a nice scratch in my driver door when I washed it. It wasn't down to bare metal, however. It was just in the paint. But, I spent about 30 minutes on it where I'd add the touch up paint and then wipe it off in about 15 - 20 seconds trying to leave the paint in the scratch only. I kept doing that and eventually filled in the scratch with the paint and you can barely see it. Not sure how big your scratch is so don't know if that will help you or not. And sorry about the scratch - that sucks.

I always use a toothpick and fill the scratch, the touch up paint brushes are too wide and hold too much paint.

The scratch is quite a bit wider than a regular scratch im hoping that the dark cherry color makes it less noticable than a light color.

Dark colors usually show scratches more than light colors.

take the tube of touch of paint, and a rag and dip the brush in the tube, wipe the excess paint off onto the rag(the brush will look almost dry) and slowling start wiping the brush on the scratch..it looks fine once its dry so don't worry if you get a little on the paint...just don't over do it, little goes along way with this stuff..
