MotoMedic Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 My friend has a 2007 Sierra 1500 Crew Cab NBS GMT-900 Work Truck Package... on her behalf, I have a few questions: 1) Can add DIC? From the threads I've seen, the WT comes prewired and it's a simple plug-n-play with new panel. 2) Can add tire pressure monitor system? Once she adds the DIC, is truck prewired for tire monitor system or does it require additional hardware? Are WT chrome wheels fitted with sensors inside or only trucks with the system from factory have them? 3) Can add compass/temp mirror? I'm upgrading to rear vision mirror and was going to give her my compass/temp mirror. Anyone know if this is a simple plug-n-play? Does the WT have the wiring and sensor for temp? Thanks to all....
importkiller76 Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 If it's a 900 I have the same truck. Not sure about the plug and play with the upgrades but I know mine has TPMS sensors and actually if her truck is in park you can flick through a few more items than the old style trucks. If mine is in park I can get my oil life, any error messages such as TPMS, trans temp, odo, trip just by pressing the trip button. If it's in drive all i get is the odo, trip, and trans temp. Hope this helps...
georgecdisc Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 To check for TPMS you could let air out of a tire so it is low... maybe down to 25 psi. If the truck has TPMS it will show up on the gauges as an indicator light. My truck did this first day I had it (before I had the DIC). Dealer filled tires to, what I assume, 35 psi INDOORS. Later that evening after the tires cooled down (it was winter when I bought it) every tire was at 27 psi. Little tire indicator on dash with exclamation point came on.

RyanbabZ71 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 2007 Sierra 1500 Crew Cab NBS Work Truck Package NBS = 'New Body Style' aka GMT-900 Actually GMT-800 = NBS GMT-900 = NNBS GMT-400 = SOBS (super old body style) That is why it is politically correct to use the gmt-###
C. Charles Hahn Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 GMT-400 = SOBS (super old body style) That is why it is politically correct to use the gmt-### SOBS? You making some kind of statement about people who drive GMT-400s?

RyanbabZ71 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 No disrespect to the gmt-400 guys out there. I made the acronym up as a joke. I like that bodystyle

Thanks to all.... 1) Yes you can, as long as it's pre-wired. Some people have been pre-wired some haven't. You can pull off the panel were the DIC would go, see if there is a wire not connected to anything. If there is. You are all set. 2) Truck will come standard with TMPS anyways, DIC or not. By law any 07+ truck/car needs to have tire pressure monitor system standard. If you have factory rims on there, you will have TMPS, unless someone swapped them out for whatever reason. 3) Not 100% sure on this, but I believe that is a standard equipped option as well.

My W/T had the harness and it's very easy to pop off and check. 2) I couldn't view my tires pressure in my W/T until I added the DIC. I could relearn tire positions (Never got it to work until I installed the DIC) and I would get a low tire pressure dummy light. With the DIC I can view all four tires pressure.
