Are 4 Inches Of Leg Room Worth The Upgrade?

The silverado is still on my shopping list for trucks. For the most part, I've been thinking an EC would be fine for me, but I'm starting to wonder if that's true.

I rarely carry people around (Maybe since the fiance has a nicer car than I currently do...), but I would like the ability to tote people around as needed.

I don't have children yet, but in the lifetime of my truck, there's a good chance something will come along... Then again, I hear carseats fit fine in the new EC's.

Bedspace wont be missed though.

So, do 4 extra inches of leg room, and normal doors become worth the $3000 premium? Is it really worth having the 4 dedicated doors???

i think it's worth it... i end up taking my truck everywhere because everyone wants to ride with me because it's more spacious and the 4 door is just more accessible/comfortable than cramming in a little car.

it's up to you really.

depends on how much you want to spend, but you might be able to find a crew cab with less options for a simliar price.. or talk the dealer down.

depends on the situation, the ext cab is quite big on the gmt-900s...about the only thing that trips my trigger about the CCs is the 6 speed trans, if i wanted 4 doors and a bed that i coulden't fit a shovel in i'd get a h3T

it was a must for me. and there is an added benefit for me. the back seats fold up in the CC and when you do that the floor is pretty much flat. so i can even take my dogs in the car and they just lay down on the almost flat floor very comfy and i don't have to fiddle with two doors.

i would never go back but i would have liked a longer bed option.

see thats the shitty part about the CCs, even if the buyer got the longer box it would end up being a 4 wheel drive limo...i've seen 3/4 ton CC long boxes at work and my god if they had to take any wider turns they might be mistaken for another moon orbiting the earth

lol. this is true but unless you spend a lot of time in tight parking lots it isn't that big of a deal. and i just park where it is easy.

Get the Crew Cab. IMO, the difference in the bed size is not that big of a deal, unless you are really loading up that bed all the time. The extra interior space is awesome, and you are right, you will probably need the room sometime in the future with the wife and kids. Nothing like having to trade in your truck because you don't have enough room.

I'm single w/ no kids. I had an 03 Extended cab, I upgraded to the 09 Crew b/c a couple times a year I just didn't have quite enough room in the EC. I do use my truck bed a decent amount, I was concerned with loading my ATV with a large ice chest for traveling to the deer camp, I found that with the La. Guard dog it is possible, tight, but possible.... worse case senerio I can pick up the back seats and I have the weathertech floor liner that would contain any leak from the ice chest so it can ride there if need be.

See, like I said, bed-space is not a HUGE concern for me.

I do see the utility of the extra room for dogs, but doesn't the EC bench flip up too?

The one other concern I have is the looks: I think the sierra looks great with the crew cab, whereas the silverado looks great with the EC. So I'm almost looking at two completely different trucks!

I wonder if the dealerships are giving deals on denalis

I have a 2009 silverado with EC. I think EC looks way better then CC plus I dont notice to much more leg room with the CC. Seats do fold up In EC. I also like the fact that I have the Standard Bed. Short bed to me looks funny especially on a Ford. I just like the sporty look that my truck has and still fit 5 people if I have to. People might get mad at me for saying this but If your going to get a CC you should have just bought an avalanche, you get your little Pickup bed and have a nice inside.

Totally agree. Love the EC look vs the Crew. Seat does fold up and we put 2 med size dogs back there no problem. I use the bed more then the cab so the extra space is nice. Quad fits in with the gate up. Thats a bonus. If we need a people hauler we use the wifes Acadia.

Look at it this way: You're not the one who has to sit with 4 inches less of leg room. They don't like it? Tell 'em to drive their car next time.

exactly what i say... im the only one who drives my truck and im always in the same seat...

id would say go with what truck you think looks better... i personally would take the bed space but thats just me.
