Tires For My 1500hd 4x4

I've got a 1500hd and I'm going to need new tires sometime soon. Most of my driving is city and I occationally go offroad. Nothing serious like deep mud, just wet fields during hunting season. I want an aggressive looking A/T tire. I don't like the look of the stock 245's. So I'm thinking about going to a 265 or maybe 285. I've seen a bunch of HD's on 285 so I'm not sure what the 265's would look like. I tow a 6x10 utility trailer with a four wheeler(atv) in the winter and a lawn mower and stuff like that in the spring-fall. Which size would you go with and could you name some tires that would be good. I had BFG at ko's on my nissan frontier but was thinking about trying something else.

Unless you change wheels, I wouldn't run 285's. You'll end up crowning the tire because of the narrow rim size. 265's will work OK.

I've always had BFG's and loved them.. but I tried the Cooper Zeon LTZ's and love them. I believe they are E-rated too :dunno:

I have 305/70r16 on my stock HD wheels. My tires are general grabber at2, they ride nice and they are just as good as bfg all terrains

Not to hijack this thread, but how did you get that size tire mounted on your stock rims? The tire shop here wouldn't mount a 285 on my stock HD wheels, nevermind a 305.

I agree! My buddy has 285's on factory wheels and he has this problem (crowning), go with the 265. If you want something different, I was considering the Nitto Grappler and have heard good things on these threads about them. I went with the BFG's. A/T.
