100k Service

My 2007 NBS Sierra 2WD 5.3L is approching 100,000 miles. I religiously change the engine oil, rear end fluid, transmission fluid, and air filter.

I called my local dealer to inquire about what is due to be done and was surprised to hear what he said.

He advised:

1. New spark plugs

2. Clean throttle body

Is that all that needs to be done on this vehicle after 100K miles???

What about:

1. New plug wires?

2. New serpentine belt?

3. flush radiator?

4. new thermostat?

5. new fuel filter?

Also, the quoted price to change plugs and clean the throttle body (whatever that means) was about $400. Sounds pricey .

Please advise what you would do at 100K, I plan to keep this truck another hundred thousand, and want to everything to keep it running reliably as it has already been.

There are many posts about this very topic....

Search for 100K maintenance

I did and found only two threads, both from 2007, and both for older trucks and both rather vague. Apparently I do not know how to use the search function (sarcasm intended :noway: )or the search function works poorly.

Can anyone answer my question or direct me to an information source? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

All the above except #5, unless your fuel filter is not in the tank. I believe flexfuel trucks have a inline filter instead of in the tank. Also new hoses. If you can change the plugs/wires yourself do so.

Read the section in your owners manual about maintenance....It tells you exactly what to do at 100K

Other than that...exactly what you said...minus 5 like Txab said...you cant access this. Its part of the pump.

Although, I wouldn't necessarily change the belt unless its squeaking, but since you want to swap out your coolant and Thermostat, you may as well as its off.

Cleaning the Throttle body is exactly what it sounds like...They actually clean the trucks TB with a spray cleaner to ensure air flow is correct and no build up is on the throttle plate and neck.

400 is rather expensive for this...but its the dealership...and they're prices are set in stone from HQ and a program that estimates time.

I changed my plug wires and plugs for 150.

I was quoted 120 from the dealer for they're cleaning...but a can of Seafoam is like 20 bucks....
