Light Switch Install 02 Silverado

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any instructions online that would tell me how to install a new light switch in a 2002 Silverado? Or is there a topic on here that I missed when I did my search that would help me.

Thanks,

Jason

You need to remove the bezel. Then you'll have access to for switch removal. The trim just pops off.

The headlight switch is held in with plastic pressure clips, no screws at all. You'll need a flathead screwdriver or similar prying tool. Work your way around the switch prying it from the plastic "sleeve" that it clips into in the dash. Use a bright light or flashlight to see into the gap better along the edges of the switch. The clips are on the top and bottom of the switch, none on the sides. Then you just unplug it and plug the new one it and pop it in.

There should be a plastic "clip" holding it in. Use a screwdriver, etc. and release it from it's mounting position. There will be an electrical connector on the backside.

I see I was a little on the slow side w/ a response....hey Scott, how are you doing?

I been good. Still up in Shreveport. I haven't been on here much lately though. I ended up recently buying a Denali cluster to replace the one you sold me. I decided I wanted a trans temp guage and a 120mph speedo ever since I got a Blackbear tune.

Thanks for the help, would the headlight switch cause the dash lights not to work or am I going in the wrong direction?

It can, but a fuse can also cause that? Do the dash lights come on if you roll the dimmer switch all the way up? Like into the position you'd turn the interior lights on with.

I dont think that they do, I know the other interior lights do but I dont think that the dash lights do.

Try turning the wheel as far as it will go before the dome/interior lights come on and see if the dash lights come on, if even for only a send. If they do then your switch is most likely bad. I've seen and heard of this happening. If they don't come on at all, the switch may still be bad, but it can also be a fuse too. Check all the fuses both in the drivers side dash fuse panel AND under the hood. It will most likely be a 10 amp or lower fuse.

I Tried this and they did come on with the dimmer switch all the way up.

Would it still be the switch or would it be something elso?

Thanks for all the help.
