Jump Seat Storage Console Latch On Nbs...warning

The latch on mine just broke off the same way yours (OP) did. I'm gonna take it apart next weekend to see if I can glue it with some industrial strength glue.

The fact that GM doesn't sell this flimsy little part separately is a pretty douchey thing to do to people who buy their products.

Have you checked the Owner's Manual? I ask because about a month ago I was reading both the OM and the HOYT Repair manual. Sorry I don't remember exactly which had the info you seek. Basically it was a how-to article on fixing the exact same latch part as you now need to do. It talked about getting a new latch from a dealer, then had pics of the steps. It showed how to handle changing it out. Sorry I cannot really help any more. But my take from the article was that you could easily get a new latch.

Good Luck!

my solution was a small strip of ez pass velcro (it is serious velcro) between the lid and console it holds enough.

That's a great solution.... it retains the function and you're not modifying anything if you happen to find a latch down the road

What one of my friends/co workers would do in this situation is "Test Drive" a truck with the same console and swap it out, bring the truck back say he's not interested and the console is broken, dealer gets it fixed under warranty..... he's not a real stand up guy... He would justify it by saying GM should have made it a service part so they can pay to warranty it....

That's a good idea, I have too much integrity to pull that off though

yeah I just can't do that stuff either.... he did it with the DIC Buttons... That's just wrong. If you can't afford $75 to buy the accessory (Like I did) there's something wrong with you..... I can see (not agree with) the console, expensive part, GM will ultimately pay through warranty on the lot truck but I like the Velcro idea better. seems like it would be a satisfactory fix until you stumbled across a lid... and at least I could sleep at night

On another forum that I am a member of, this problem has been discussed several times. One member had a source for the latches. I will try to find out the info....like $30 or something like that.

Mine just broke today. I noticed it didn't feel right for about the last month.

My truck is an '11. I have to be real close to owning it for 3 years. I'll have to look up the bill of sale and see if a trip to the dealer is in order.

I look at the broken part and can't believe an engineer got paid to design that cheap POS. How was that supposed to last any more than 2-3 years.
