xTRIGGERx Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I am thinking about buying this 99 GMC Sierra that has 143000 miles, and its VERY clean, and VERY well taken care for. New Tires, new brakes, tranny flush recently...and much more...hes asking 7900, and I was thinking 6500-7000...what do you guys think?
mxdirtrider56 Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 If you know it's been taken care of and you like it then go for it!
the hammer Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 11 year old truck, 140k on it....I would give MAYBE $5,000 if it was a 4x4 and didn't smell inside and carfax was clean and no rust.

For comparison I bought by truck when it was 8 years old with 104,000 miles for $6500 and that was with new tires as well.
dlstewart01 Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Depending on what part of the country you are in, and the trim level, they will go for between 6 to 7 thousand in good shape. Some areas will be more, some will be less. You got to remember these people are not buying it...you are. You need to see what the going rate is in your area and if you thinks its a good deal for...you.
[email protected] Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 I wouldn't pay but 6k for it. And I'd be kicking myself to pay that for it. My dad bought an 05 in 08 with 130k on it for 10.5k.
xTRIGGERx Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 I live in Naples, Florida. Everything is expensive here. The guy is trying to sell it because he lost his house, and had to buy another house with a private mortgage....
xTRIGGERx Posted August 21, 2010 Author Posted August 21, 2010 here is the ad.....http://fortmyers.craigslist.org/lee/cto/1909894634.html
c4cruiser Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Ask the seller if you can take the truck to a local reputable auto repair shop where you can have a used vehicle inspection (UVI) done on it. Most places charge an hour to 1.5 hours in labor for a complete inspection and a written report of anything they find. That's probably $100 to $125 and it could be well worth it. The ad says he has all the records so ask if they can go along with the truck for the UVI.
gnet158 Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 That's way too much money for that truck. I don't care how nice it is or looks. Don't go over $5k, if he says no then walk away and want for him to call you. Or go to an auction and get a newer truck for less money.
jblakeney Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 My 1999 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L 2wd Extended Cab, it would take......... 18k USD and more to pry it from my hands........ And it would go with me kicking and screaming every breath. Man, I like my 1999....... I think I gave 14 for it in 2001....... I've kept all the maintance up on the truck myself, and personally turned every wrench that has been turned on it since I got it. Less the brakes I worked into the deal when I bought the truck. But I am rust free and in great shape....... Not burning oil and I am fixing to freshen up the transmission in a couple weeks.... "If it ain't broke I can fix it and make it better." Jbo
jro909 Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 thats a rip...i payed 10k for mine with 55k on the ticker 3 years ago...shop around
