Help No Spark!

Hi all, I have a 1985 GMC Sierra k1500 w/ 5/7l 350, I had to haul some dirt the other day and wheni got home after unloading i crankrd it up and moved it enough to put the tailgate back one and was gettting ready to head for another load. At that time the truck would not start. It would turn over but not start. I take the Distributor off and the metal piece on the rotor that makes contact inside the distributor was broken off. I replaced the cap and rotor and had the coil and module tested. I still don't have any spark. Any Ideas?

I didn't see you mention replacing the coil wire or plug wires. They're usually the weakest link.

Sorry, had the coil and module tested and the coil ohmed out ok. 1.2 ohms i believe. and just replaced the plugs and wires this past winter.

Are you sure the distributor is turning?

Did you re-connect all the wires (not plug wires) to the distributor cap? Are they broken in two maybe?

Yes Dist is turning and all wires were connected.

Got power to the dist? Did you put the "button" and spring back in the new cap?

I'd double check everything again. If you have power to the dist., then the problem is with the dist. somewhere. Coil bad or not making connection. Incorrect or bad rotor. Module bad despite being checked by who knows who. Re-check everything

sounds like your pickup coil at the base of the distibutor is gone bad there are two wires yellow and green. the coil is mounted on the advance plate and the wires are pluged into the module this causes the two wire to move back and forth those wire break of inside after long use not something you can see. the distributor has to be removed to change
