Ok, Installed Dic Today And It Shows My Mpg At 10.7

Is that right? Halfway thru second tank, avg just under 11 mpg (AC on max all the time). That's a long way from the 16 listed on the sticker. Truck now has over 500 miles on it, about to swap out the oil. Does running the AC all the time effect the MPG that much?

shouldnt be that bad. keep your foot out of it

:) I get better than that with my 6.0 and 4.10 gears :dunno:

Are you always on the hammer? You shouldn't have any trouble getting at least 15-16mpg average.

Reset it and drive normal (not lead footed)...it will average out over time. Especially with highway driving. Mine stays at about 17.9 all the time....5.3L

Did you reset it before taking it home from the dealer? If not, that truck could have seen a lot of idling, test drives, moving around the dealer lot, etc. Lots of really short trips will read low mileage.

no I didnt, there were 115 miles on it when I got it, maybe thats it, will reset on next tank and see what I get

Give it some time. Your gas mileage will go up as you start getting into the 3,000-5,000 range.

500-1000 miles is still breaking things in and the computer takes some time to dial everything in.

Thanks, hope you are right. :P

That's probably why the average MPG is so low. I have seen trucks with 6-7 MPG average accumulated during test drives and moving it around the dealer's lot.

Immediately after each fill up, you have to reset the 'avg fuel economy mpg', and 'gallons used' to zero. You can't reset

the 'fuel range' numbers. They are calcuated by the gallons u put in and previous avg mpg to give u the distance u can

go with the amount of gas in the tank.

You can optionally reset the trip meter to zero, if you want at this time.

After each fillup I reset the trip meter, avg mpg, and gallons used.

Rember that mpg is most affected immediately after each fillup and DIC reset. The more miles you put on a tank

the less sensitive it is.

Some trucks have an instantaneous mpg reading instead of the avg mpg. I don't remember which ones, maybe the LTZ's.

In any case, avg or inst. the DIC should tell you.
