Confused Between Yukon & Tahoe

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am really curious to know which is more practical and stronger than the other. I am planning to buy a new car, and I don't know what is the difference between the two; expect some minorities. I am looking for heavy duty car that it has off-road and towing capabilities. In addition to my daily use. and what advantage Yukon Denali has over both cars.

Thanks in advance

The Tahoe and the Yukon share all the same mechanical components. The only difference in is the looks of each. Buy the one that is the best deal.

The Denali has a bigger engine and cost a lot more money and is limited in colors available. It only comes in all wheel drive, not part time like a Tahoe and Yukon, Its on par with an Escalade only, not quote as expensive.

These are not really an ideal off-road suv. The have low profile tires and limited ground clearance, especially the Denali.

Weird, many people who are using Yukon, claim it is one of the best 4X4 car available in the market. It's off-road capabilities beats both land cruiser and Nissan Patrol. But I am not sure about the new Yukon and Tahoe and their new 6 gear box.

He's talking about the Denali trim line of the Yukon. As in a SLE or SLT trim of Yukon. Or LTZ or LT or LS trim of Tahoe. A Denali isn't a off-road vehicle at all. Now a z71 Tahoe is.

I wouldn't mind having a z71 Tahoe at all. Also the 6-speed transmissions are tons better than the old 4-speeds.

Personally I think that GMC trucks look better than Silverados and I think Tahoes look better than Yukons.

Winter before last, we had snow that was beyond belief. Portland, Oregon is the epicenter of temperate weather, but for one month we were like in the arctic. Just guessing, we had well over three-feet of snow on the level ..... forever.

And to put in proportion, a huge snow plow got tipped over in the ditch up our road and they left it for well over a month. That's right, one-third of Clackamas County's fleet of snow plows was buried in our corner ditch for a month.

Anyway, we had the 2006 2500 Duramax 4X4 with heavy snow tires and our 2004 Tahoe 4X4. Well into our arctic adventure, our Duramax simply would not go ... too light in the rear and chains didn't help a whole lot. The only chains I had were cables, but the rig was still a no-go.

Frankly, I was disappointed, but the Duramax was really a lost issue in the seriously deep snow.

So, I chained up the Tahoe on all four. I had some great V-Bar chains a friend of mine ripped-off of the Highway Department that fit the Michelin tires well. So, I took the Tahoe for a test run.

It was fantastic. Traction like CRAZY, everything totally under control and excellent stopping power.

Christmas Eve was perhaps the worst of it. We are devout Catholics and usually spend Christmas Eve in church. The Tahoe was going good, so we called another couple from our parish and asked them if they wanted a ride. They said ... "Really? Nothing's moving."

I started out an hour early, stayed to the flattest route and made the usually 10-minute journey in 55-minutes ... without spinning a wheel.

Normally, 800 or more folks celebrate Christmas Eve Holy Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church. That evening, there were eight of us and five had arrived in our Tahoe.

Father Don invited us all to sit around the Sanctuary as we celebrated Holy Mass. It was amazing.

Yessir, the Tahoe can be a pretty excellent 4X4. Heck, it's just a shortened half-ton truck with a canopy top. I really love the Tahoe.

Here is a photo of our Tahoe after retuening after Mass. It had been in the garage before we left, so all the snow was collected on the two-hour journey and the hour and a half Mass.

Even skating out to take a dip in the hot-tub was an ADVENTURE!!!

This photo was quite early. A week or so later, the "Keep Christ In Christmas" sign was BURIED in under the snow.

Not a bad little buck I shot a few years ago. I love the snow on the antlers.
