05 3500 Gmc 6.0liter Any Good?

I am possibly acquiring an 05 3500 GMC sierra with the 6.0L. Its a crew cab with 8ft bed, 4.10 gears, 4wd and plow upgrades. Its listed as a 9900 GVW......Is this too much truck for the 6.0L? What transmission is in this truck (its not the allison)...... Also, does this truck have coil springs or torsion bars?

I believe torsion bars. I had one..it will do what you need fine. Only problem

with mine was the exhaust manifolds and bolts cracking. If you tow heavy

in the mountians you won't like the 4 speed or 300HP. But I just went slower

and it works.

if you tow heavy loads lots get a diesel if you dont it will be fine.

like others say if you tow heavy loads alot then get a diesel but if you tow a small trailer then you will be fine. Most people buy the diesel and don't even need it. The 6 liter isn't a bad motor though

its torsion bars.. its either a 4l80e or 4l85e..i think they started the 4l85e in late 03/04 its identical to the 4l80 just stronger internals.. i had an 05 2500hd ext cab long bed 6.0 3.73 and it was ok but if i really planned to haul/tow id want an 8.1 truck or duramax if really needed, i think if you did a decent intake,exhaust,and blackbear tune..youll be much happier with the 6.0 then the way it sits now, 30-40 HP makes anything feel better

I have a 05 HD EXSB 4x. The 6.0 is a great engine. I know several wtih 200k+ on them. Just remember they like to rev so drop a gear and hold 4500rpm. Torsion bars on 05. 4L80 is the trans. Get a tune, I have a Blackbear, makes the trans act much better and power/torque is sweet. I do a decent amt of mountain towing with 22k+ lbs and am very happy with the tune and the truck.
