Damaged Plastic On Sun Visors

Earlier this year my vanity mirror trim started expanding and finally broke completely apart. At first I thought the mirror fell down due to the trim being broken (a small piece broke off a couple of years ago) but upon closer inspection I could see where the plastic had started bubbling up, and it was extremely brittle. Then a few months ago my driver's side pull-out shade started getting tough to pull out. It too had started to bubble up and a couple of weeks ago it shattered in my hand when I exerted a bit more force. Neither is too big of a problem as I rarely use even the sun visors but they have me concerned about the rest of the plastic trim and parts on my truck. For what it's worth, the passenger side visor is intact right now.

When the pull-out shade broke I took a closer look at it and saw where the two pieces of plastic that are molded together (might be one piece folded) separated, creating a bubble effect. Pressing on the "bubbles", or pinching them, cause the plastic to crumble.

The only theory I have is that the hot Louisiana summer has taken a toll on the plastic in the visors. The visors stay up, possibly exposing them to more heat than some other parts of the truck, but I still can't see how they would become brittle as they are never exposed to sunlight or direct heat.

Has anyone else here experienced this problem? Is there any chance other plastic parts could get damaged?

I'll get a couple pics in a few minutes.

These sun visors are junk. Earlier this year I forgot to retract the extender and flipped up the visor casually and the plastic extender broke off immediately after slightly hitting the rear view mirror. A new sunvisor (without vanity mirror) lists for over $ 70. I had to go through two of them to get one with properly tensioned inside spring so it would not droop. Made in Mexico, POS, and way overpriced.
