I Pulled The Trigger On A New Truck Today

Well I did it, traded in my 09 GMC 1/2 ton WT for a new 2011 GMC 2500HD SLE package. I got the 6.0 motor, ext cab 4x4.

Truck had 2 miles on it, when I test drove.

Not new to trucks, but this is my first 2500 HD truck. This truck is night and day compared to my 1/2 in stance and size.

Only down side so far, took me almost $90 bucks to fill it up, lol.

I hope I will have this truck for a very long time.

If anyone has any helpful tips, please pass them along.

One questions I do have is the manual said the front torsion bar setup was adjustable by turning 2 bolts, is this true, and if so how much can you adjust it up without causing any other type of damage.

Truck has 275/75/17, but would really like to put a +1 size tire on it.

Thanks,

Mike

Congrats on the new truck. My only advice is to hold on to something when you hit bumps. :uhoh: It will ride nothing like a 1/2 ton. You can adjust the torsion bars. Opinions vary on how much. Try the search there are a ton of threads about it.

Wow, I just started posting on here and you guys already know me to well, lol

Actually, I have had 12 different trucks as well as 2 harley's within the last 14 yrs.

My wife is starting to threaten me if I even look at another truck after this.

Congrats on the truck!

As for the torsion bars, yes they are adjustable and have been on GM trucks since 1988.

Oh, and for tire sizing, factory tires are 245/70/17 all season, and a 265/70/17 all terrain. The 17" rims are 17"x7.5" so a 285/70/17 will fit no problem (ex. a bfg at is approved for 7.5" to 9" wide rims, and the factory tires are 7" to 8.5" wide rims).

Thanks newdude for the info, the BFG's in 285/70/17 are going to be the tires I get when the OEM's wear out.

I will post some pics when I figure out how to, lol.

Thanks, all.
