Oh and I drive a "real truck" for work after reading some more posts on this. It's a 1999 Ford f350 single cab, no options but heat and fm radio, with a telsta bucket. It's a big piece of shit and rides like a brick. Luckily it helps me get the job done. But to me, it's no more of a "real truck" than my almost fully loaded Sierra.

Why in the world would I care about what vehicle some other guy buys with his money?

We are a family of three. We don't need a truck at all.

Since I've got the truck I carried one christmas tree and a few boxes to and from the storage.

 

I could have done it with a passenger car as well.

 

But I love trucks. Even if it is only a 1500. And in Canada I can afford to drive a truck as a daily driver.

No offense, to own a pick up truck means a lot more to a German guy than to an American or Canadian.

 

In Germany you'll have to think twice to drive a truck as a DD. Because beside the insurance and 1.65 Euro for a liter of gasoline (roughly CAD 2.15) you'll have to pay tax each year.

And the tax depends on the size of the engine.

 

My truck burns about 3 liter for 100km more than the Buick my wife had before...that's worth it.

Amen brother! That's exactly how I feel. I have zero use for my 2500HD at the moment, but I grew up in small town Ohio where trucks run rampant. My dad has always had a heavy duty for as long as I can remember, just been a dream of mine to have my own.

 

See I take the less approached option, I'm happy for people when they have a vehicle they love....I don't sit around and fret about if it's justified for them to own or not. If they bust their ass at work everyday, provide for their families, and give a huge portion of their income to uncle Sam every year then they deserve to have whatever they want and answer to no one.

Shoot... After this post I'm thinking about selling my 2010 Sierra with less than 6k miles and my '03 Tahoe with 188k miles (runs as good as the day I bought it) and get a 2500 Suburban.

I have no problem with it. As long as they do not come into the dealer complaining about harsh ride and noises.
