Trucks On E-bay

What are your thought of purchasing a truck off E-Bay??

 

I am looking to get a truck, and well it is going to be used. I like it upstate NY, and well most used truck from around here have seen there fair share of road salt. I am thinking if I can get a truck from the south, I can atleast get something that is not rusting away from the bottom up. E-bay seems to have a decent amount of trucks, but I just do not know about the buying something with out driving it first.

get in contact with the guy and find documentation. condition the sale. so when you go pick it up have a mechanic there look at it and if there are major defects like $1000 or more sale is off. things like that. and cool you want to buy from here, but watch out for florida trucks. mine is an original cali truck and i brought it with me when i moved. ive been here 2 years 6 months and there is some surface rust showing on the frame. also you will see some red claay dont mistake it for rust

i personally would never buy anything off ebay no matter what it is... my cousin had an awful expirience trying to buy an ATV 2 years ago, lost about $6000. i have heard of to many other horror storys of ebay so i wont go near it.

i personally wouldnt unless it was a repituble dealer and called then first. like dealer info listed on the sale. then i would be weary. thats my advice if i did though

I've bought a car, and sold 2 on ebay with no problems. If you are any bit computer literate, you shouldn't have any problem. Simple things like the sellers feedback-how many cars have they sold, ratings, etc. Make sure a history report is available (VIN check). Make sure the sale offers buyer protection from ebay. Do not conduct any part of the sale outside of ebay.

the guy manages the tractor supply where i live bought a used burb off of ebay, and he said he's gone cross country with it several times... it all depends on who owned and whether they took care of it

While vehicles are a bit more tricky, I've had several friends buy vehicles off of Ebay with great success. As long as you communicate with a reliable (near perfect feedback and lots of transactions) seller, I'd go for it. It gets s bit sticky when an individual is selling a vehicle there... you just never know who they are or what their motives are. Sometimes you can get a feel for a seller by communicating with them.

 

Much like anything else in life... a little common sense goes a long way here. You have to know exactly what you are looking for and what questions to ask. You can get screwed by the guy down the street just as easily as you can on Ebay.

 

Check out these guys! They sell the crap out of vehicles and always have nice stuff... plus I believe they are the biggest Car Seller on Ebay

Interesting thoughts. I have use e-bay for many smaller purchases, and onle had one bad experience, but the sell made good on it.

My uncle bought his Duramax off of it and has never had any problems.

 

My dad sold is '34 Ford on there ( Beautiful car ) Guy drove from Oklahoma to MS to look at it before he bought it.

 

DON'T buy a vehicle without going and looking at it/taking to a dealer first. You might complain about having to spend $$$ to go check it out but it might save you ALOT of money in the long term.

I agree, if used correctly, Ebay is a safe marketplace. I have nearly 500 transactions buying and selling on Ebay and it's the first place I shop. Most of the mods done to my truck were purchased off Ebay. Check the sellers feedback before you buy.

never ever buy something based off of pictures, rangeing from a mail order bride to a pick up...she make look hot in the picture but photo shop can work wonders on anything...i've heard of horror storys of peolple buying cars offline and getting them to find out they were in a flood or the vehicle was a salvage

Ebay sells a lot of cars and trucks, I am sure there are as many good experiences as there are negative. I personally had a bad experience purchasing a car on Ebay and the only thing that saved me is that my Paypal account was linked to my American Express. Once I did not get resolution with the seller, or Paypal, American Expressed charged back the seller after he would not respond to them! LOL. That got his attention..... This was followed with verbal threats from him saying he was going to charge me with stealing the car and me having to pay a lawyer to make him go away. Big PIA!

 

Bottom line, protect yourself, check the vin, carfax, and once you pick it up take it to a local mechanic to check it out. I took the vehicle I bought to a local Pep Boys and they actually had something called an Ebay Inspection?....

 

That said, I will stick buying locally so that I have someone to visit if there are issues.

Only a complete idiot would get burned on Ebay. Use good comunication, put a SMALL deposit on Paypal via credit card and under no circomstances, use ANY other fund souce like a bank account, paypal balance or debit card. If all checks out after the inspection, meet at a bank & wire transfer in person, after you have the vehicle, & clear title in hand.
