Thinking about a body lift kit

I have a 2001 GMC 2500 HD extended cab with the 6.0 motor. I want to get bigger tires and wheels for it but everyone says the biggest you can go without doing anything to the truck I believe is 285-75-16??? How about if you put a small body lift in it....Say maybe two inches.....I dont want to go crazy and spend alot of money.......Does anyone have a 2 inch body lift in theres and what size wheels and tires can you put on it with it...Any help would be appreciated.....I want to go with Weld Stone Crusher wheels and BFG ATKO's.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.....Does anyone have any pics of just a few inch body lifted truck......Joe

It's not an HD, but here's mine with a 3 inch Performance Accessories Body Lift and 285/75-16s.

I don't know anyone that makes a 2 inch kit for the new body style trucks. Trailmaster and Performance Accessories both make a 3 inch kit though. Here's a link to one of my pages with some pics of what all is involved in the PA kit install. There is a link on that page too that goes to chevy4x4trucks truck page. He had a 3 inch PA kit too. The PA kit for your HD will be slightly different from the 1500 kit, but not much.

Supposedly somebody makes a 2 inch suspension lift, but it may have been discontinued, because I cant find any info. You can ask around at the 4x4 accessories type stores. You may as well go 4"!! But then again, why not 6??? LOL

I'm sure Shotgun will be posting a pic of his truck soon if not do a search on it. He runs 315/70/16 on his stock wheels wtih no problem. I have also seen a truck with those tires up close. They were mounted on a set of 16x10 inch wheels and looked awesome. That guy had only cranked his torsion bars and trimmed the bottom corner off the air dam.

By the way if you put a body lift on an HD. You are going to have an awful lot of frame exposed. May look a little funny.
