That steel bar weighed in at 30.6 pounds Next was a short section of exhaust tail pipe I removed to better tuck up the exhaust tip which was hanging down just a tad too low. That section weighed in right at 1/2 pound So far the total weight loss is over 186 pounds! Running Boards -45.6 -45.6 Stock exhaust manifolds & Y-Pipe -55.0 -100.6 Headers & Y-Pipe +38.6 -62.1 Jack and base assembly -10 -72.1 Spare tire and wheel -71 -143.1 Spare tire hoist -7.8 -150.9 Exhaust shield (spare) -0.5 -151.4 Catalytic converters -4.0 -155.4 Short tail pipe section -0.5 -155.9 Tow Hitch and hardware -30.6 -186.5

I've come up with: Reduce fuel to no more than half a tank Reduce windshield fluid to 1/3 Drill lightening holes in both bumper steel cores Same with the aluminum bracketery on the engine Replace the standard drive shafts with aluminum units Replace the transmission mount with a home-made aluminium unit Cut off excess of all suspension mounts and so forth... If a guy really wanted to get serious there is one big, well, huge weight reduction, but that would change the nature of the vehicle. That would be to remove the transfer case, driveshaft, front differential, both axle shafts and all hardware and mounts. That would be every bit of 500 or more pounds. But now the thing would no longer be AWD. That means the rear tires would never again be able to hook up. I can already spin two rear and one front! That would make the truck very fast without any engine stuff, but, like I said, would change it's nature. I am kicking that around but it seems to be a better idea to just keep all that stuff and make a butt more more torque from a cam and a supercharger and get around 700BHP pushing all that weight around. I don't have a good baseline on the weight, so next is to get a good weight on the vehicle and look it again. More to come...
[email protected] Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I'm with you on some stuff, but drilling holes is a little extreme, IMO. And not worth it.Now removing the 4wd is a definite reduction that's worth it, if you don't need it.

I definitely wouldn't be cutting on the suspension and such just because I could. Doesn't seem like it would be good for the integrity of the truck. Unless your trying to race or something. But I don't know your intentions I guess. I would add some power adders and beef the powertrain up if it was me. But like I said, I don't know what you are shooting for.
