Engine Oil Life Monitor Reset, Yes I Searched

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to reset the oil life monitor on my 01 yukon, I tried the procedure in the manual and spent the last two hours searching online and this site. I've tried slowly pushing the pedal three times, pushing it fast three times, pushing it five times, nothing works. For my 00 sierra all I do is turn the key to the on position and pump the gas pedal three times and its worked every time for the last 6 years I've had it. I can't get this one to reset. Is there something I'm missing?

Ya the key is in the run position, (engine off) pressed petal 3 times, I've tried this about 20 or so times, every time i start it the light still comes on.

Do you turn the key back off after and open the door? You should. Plus you're supposed to wait for it to flash five times and go out also before turning it off.

I went out there, got in, closed the door, turn to run position, pushed pedal three times then turn key off and opened door. I then closed the door and started it up and its finally off, thank you. GM must of forgot to put that in the owners manual.

Yep, they should have. Mine's the same way you have to turn key off and open the door. Good deal.

You know it's kinda funny... I never knew that either, about the door. Thing is I set it, after an oil change, sitting half out of the drivers seat with the door open. Go figure.

Having worked in a dealership doing oil changes for a while, the biggest problem that I came across was that the floor mats would be in the way of the gas petal going all the way to the floor, mostly in cars, but every once in a while in trucks.

You may want to give that a quick try if you have not already.....

Try pressing the pedal. I don't think playing with flowers is going to make a difference with your oil reset light.

My post was sarcasm. Read it again, and maybe you'll catch it this time.
